Was wondering, just out of curiosity really more than anything else, what is the approx. weight of a pallet of 5.56 ammo? links to manufacturer sheets would be awesome, but whatever people know. Thanks!

PS - awesome forum & community. picked up my first AR in Feb 09.

20" oly arms .223/5.56 flattop with FIRSH quad rail
about 900 rounds through it so far, works like a dream!

Um.... the weight of the pallet depends on several factors. How the ammo is packed can have a lot to do with it but the biggest factor is how tall the pallet is stacked. You also have several different dimensions of pallets as well. Hell, if you have 100000 rounds the difference in a 55gr and 62gr bullet can even make a difference.

Short answer- It's as heavy as the ammo you put on it.

Better question would be how much does a case weigh.

very true, thats a pretty open ended question. i guess, then, case of federal 55 gr 5.56.

500 packs of 200 rounds at 6 lbs per = 3000 lbs,  add in weight of cardoard boxes, pallet.  Best guess is 3100-3200 lbs.

Oh - that's for 62 grain.

Unless you plan to pick that pallet up and deliver it to yourself, give up the idea that I think you're thinking

That buying by the pallet would be cost effective? But savings tossed when the freight bill arrives. Everyone keeps talking about pallet sized orders being peanuts compared to normal orders, so there aren't any significant savings to be had because they don't need to.

But, if you need a pallet sized order regardless, then it's moot...you need it. It's still going to cost a shitload to ship, it may be worth renting a U-Haul.
