How many of you have your ammo pre-loaded on stripper clips? What is the advanctage when using 30 round mags?

I porbally have 2,000 rounds or so on stripper clips. Since I only have about 10 mags that comes out to 300 rounds loaded and ready to go. With a simple stripper clip spoon I can load a 30 round mag in about 5 seconds.

My ammo supply is in the tens of thousands- the cubic feet for that amount of magazines would be immense. Stripper clips are simply more practical space-wise.

All of my stash is kept on stripper clips, and in bandos.

S'not hard.

1. Put spoon on magazine. It is designed to go at the back of the mag; once it is installed, you'll know it.

2. Insert end of stripper clip into the skinny end of the spoon.

3. Press HARD on the last bullet. You MUST attempt to make the loading occur in about 1/2 second, or you will fail. Sort of like tearing wax paper off a roll: you have to do it quickly or it won't work.

Also, apply preasure as close to the base of the bullets as possible.

I prefer to use a the edge of a table or an ammo can. Save abuse on the hands.

Can stripper clips be used with PMAGS?

YES!

As for loading mags from strippers, IMHO the ONLY way to do it with with the StripLula.  I loaded mags with the standard GI spoon, and it SUCKS!   1/2 the time rounds will jump out of the stripper clip, and it's just all around a PITA.   But the StripLula is soo much faster, and easier,  It supports the rounds around the sides at the base and doesn't allot them to jump out.   Also the StripLula can be used with loose rounds as well.   Probably the best $$ I've ever spent next is the P-Mags!

Now THAT is cool.  Wish I had that in the Marine Corps.  Would have saved a bunch of cuts on my hands.

Iguess the next question ought to be...

Where to buy good stripper clips (5.56/.223) at a reasonable total cost?
Sorry if this is a Hi-Jack. [;)

yall will probably hate me but when i was younger like 12 or 13 i got my first gun from my grandfather it was a m1 carbine and he had tons of ammo he "procured" from the national guard ( he was a brig. gen.) anyway the ammo came in a small wooden crate in bandoliers on stripper clips, well not knowing what they were i just took the bullets off the stripper clips and threw away the stripper clip to load the magazine. wish i would have known could have saved them

I guess the price is up on SCs and spoons these days too. Several years ago you  could get 100 SCs and a spoon for like $5-$6. I can't remember the name of the guy that everyone ordered from back in the day.

Wu Surplus?  I think that stripper clips were 6 cents each and spoons were 5 for a dollar back in '03.

Last time I bought stripper clips I got them from Old Sarges

You can buy complete kits or just supplies.

Old Sarge has more different stripper clip options and types than you could imagine.  For example, there are two different types of M1 Carbine strippers, and he has both...  He's a great source for anything stripper clip related.

And StripLula for the win!  These things are amazingly good and amazingly easy to use.

+1 for Ed at New River Salvage.

I just bought a dozen repack kits from him lest week. He shipped priority mail and had a couple extra stripper clips, cardboards and an extra guide too. The price was GREAT! What others charge for just the kits is all I paid, incuding shipping Priority mail!!

Thats 12 bandoleers that look like new (badoliers to some) with black safty pins, 48 cardboards(I got a couple extra), 144 stripper clips(again I got a couple extra), and 12 guides(I got a bakers dozen).

Ed did a great job of communicating with me about the order and shipped it in a very timely manner. I will be doing more business with him and feel that I had to tell the members of this board about the superior service and pruduct he supplies.
