lets say i switch from ultramax 55 grn to prvi 55 grain to prvi xm193 whatever else 55 grain fmj is on sale at the time.  will i notice different point of impacts from these different ammunitions at 50 yards, or will it be only noticable out further, perhaps 100 yards or more?  basically what i am asking is, if i dial in my iron sites with one type of ammo at 50 yards, am i going to need to stick with that ammo to maintain accuracy?

Depends on what you consider affecting accuracy.  If you just want "combat effective" accuracy of hitting a pie plate, then at 50 yds a change in ammo of the same bullet weight is not likely to show much effect.

But if you are doing reduced target size shooting to simulate precision shooting of full size targets at 30 yds, 500 yds, then you most likely will see an effect.

i would be content at consistently hitting pop cans at 50 yards.  i will most likely never shoot past 100 yards BTW. unless I go hunting for 'yotes, in which case i would take the time to get familiar with the ammo i would use.

55 grain mil spec ammo should not be much different in performance.
