Has anyone actually heard of a kaboom from using 5.56mm in a .223 barrel? I've been around for awhile and and never heard of one from a 5.56mm in a .223 barrel... |

I personally think that this is a wifes tail, to a point. I think that the pressure will be higher becasue of the tighter chamber but not to the point of a proof type load, that the gun will be able to handle. If a rifle did kaboom, I would suspect a barrel obstruction or a dirty and out of spec rifle which allowed the rifle to fire out of battery. Most of the time when you hear about kabooms, there is normally something else that caused the failure and it seems that at the ranges/gun shows/on line, it turns into something else, like 5.56 in 223 chamber, ect. |
Most reloaders with .223Rem have probably reached 5,56 pressures... Personally i dont see any problem with firing 5,56 in my Rem 700 as long as the bolt close normal and the case looks normal after being fired. |
