Non-reloadable, but otherwise OK stuff. Briklee used to import all kinds of crazy shit back in the heyday of C&R. You could get a Garand and keep the ammo, or divest yourself of the find for about $0.75/ round + shipping to fund other endeavors. You'd have no shortage of buyers. I semi regularly come across finds like this and buy them up just to feed my OCD and Garanditis. Out of a bolt gun, these are relatively mild loads compared to what is available commercially today from a velocity standpoint. The value lies in the 164 gr. projectile itself. I wouldn't waste them shooting through the bolt rifle. |

I would hang on to that if you want to get a Garand. Once you see that stuff ventilate some 1/2 inch hard plate you will like it. Armor piercing ammo is a must have when you get Garand. Pretty much the equivalent of US M2AP, which is bad A$$! M2AP is hitting a buck a round in this area, especially for the original (not reloaded) stuff. |

Some of the old timers say so. My personal experience is that the rifle and shooter are more significant contributors to accuracy / consistency than M2AP vs standard M2 ball projectile. Out of my Garands, I literally see no difference in either POI or dispersion at 100 yards when carefully benched. It's best reserved for killing vehicles, anyway. Minute of auto is pretty easy to achieve in even the most shot out field grades. |
