Besides weight and steel core, what is the difference between M193 and M855?  Am I correct in understanding that M193 fragments and M855 penetrates/semi armor piercing?  Is there one I would rather stock up for a rainy day?

I will probably stock up on M855 since my barrel is 1/7" twist and the M855 is heavier, but if M855 doesn't fragment like M193 then I will stock up equally with both.

The difference between M855 and M193 is exactly 662.

All joking aside the ammo-oracle is a fantastic read, I'd spend some time in there.  You'll learn more than you anticipated to.

Steel INSERT would be better term since the whole CORE isnt STEEL

I use M855 & M193 at the range
Ive shot the M193 and M855 since the 80`s
There really aint that much difference Check Gel testing for the Best answer
M855 has the edge only when it comes to steel plates. But a CLOSE range it dont matter
Both will do for SD

But there are ALOT better picks like 75gr TAP or DPX/Bear Claw Soft points etc!
