Are the Remington UMC rounds sufficient for varmint hunting? Coyotes to be exact up to 300 yards. I know a well placed shot with anything such as a head shot with cheap ammo will kill. Will the UMC kill a coyote if shot in vital mass area?

If you are looking for consistent performance with 300-yd shots, you might want to go with either 5.56mm load ammo like the M193 or some heavier Black Hills .223 ammo like the 68-gr OTM, 69-gr SMK and/or 75-gr OTM.

I plink lots with the UMC .223 after high power silhouette matches with my .308 and that UMC round will knock a half inch thick T1 armor steel chicken off the stand at 200 meters and pigs at 300 meters the same way with head shots on them.Occasionaly one needs two hits so that ought to dust a coyote.I been using privi 55 grain FMJ for them up to around 250 yards with no problems but it is sure better if they are sitting easy,on the fly if you can get on them they may not know they are dead until out of sight,I always try for a shoulder and a neck shot will stop about any animal in that weight class

I've used UMC for years to plink with no issues.
