I bought some 5.56mm ammo at a recent gun show. One of the boxes was marked as shown below. I believe it was some of the first M855 ever produced by Olin based on the green tip and the 1984 date. Is this correct? Does this stuff have any interest for a cartridge collector? |

It is real-deal. I have never seen a WCC84 PENETRATOR box with an -001 or -002 lot number, but have seen several of the -003s such as that one. The cartridges will have an almost iridescent dark green tip. Head stamp is WCC 84 with red primer annulus. 2 boxes were up for sale recently for $10 each. Carey  |
