Ok, I'm not usually one to bash Wolf ammo but I did have something very unusual happen this evening. I was sighting a new scope on my 16" carbine with Wolf 55 gr hp's. I went through the first couple of groups with no problems. Then on the second shot of a group I pull the trigger and hear "pop". If you've ever had a muzzle loader missfire on you then you know the sound I speak of. I figure, ok so the primer went off and the powder didn't, or there was no powder in the case. I waited a minute or so just in case it was a hangfire. I pulled the charging handle kind of expecting to see that the bullet had lodged in the barrel but the bullet was still in the case. If you didnt look at the primer you would think it was a loaded round. The primer on the other hand was ruptured in a way I've never seen before. I ended up having to take the bolt apart to clean the crap that had been blown back into it out. I've never posted pics but I will try to so you can see what I'm talking about.

That may be the ugliest round of ammo I've ever seen.

Looks like a factory abortion.

I think the primer was seated sideways.  Send it to Wolf for free ammo.

I pulled the primer and you are exactly right noharm.

Least it didnt blow

i just emailed wolf today, i had a few rounds that looked like they had gotten crushed in a machine.... they are sending me a call tag to have the bad rounds shipped back to them, so they can replace them. Any one have any experiance with wolf replacing ammo?

Well, I went to Wolfs site and there is nothing at all said about free ammo in thier guarantee. Only that if you arent satisfied to send the remaining ammo back and get a refund for it. I've only got 120 rds of that ammo left and it all looks fine. I did email them and recieved an apology. I was also told that they would "be sure to make a note of it." No offer of free ammo.

i told them i had 7 rounds i wanted to exchange, they told me dont bother sending them in, they would send me 7 new rounds.... i wonder if they will send me a box of 20, or just 7 rounds? tell them you feel unsafe using the rest of the ammo, and you would like a replacment, then see what they offer...

this is easy to avoid  INSPECT your ammo before you shoot it

i find usually 2 or 3 in a case with the primers like that.

pullem out of the box look at all the primers then flip it over and inspect the bullets

a few wolf surprises

1 the messed up primers
2 two hollow points and box of fmj
3 black plastic bullet holder instead of the normal white one
