I had a vendor call me up saying that he received this. Anyone ever heard of it?
20rd boxes and 500rd cases.

Let me see if I get this right.
Federal told me that this is LE ammo that does not meet spec. It is a 63gr Gold Dot bullet, but he is not sure if it is on Lake City or Federal brass. Please correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, they are sending me 6 cases.

Even if he doesn't it will be a good start or addition to an Ammo Stash...

I've shot it but didn't do any testing on it informal or otherwise. It all went bang in all my rifles. Some of the larger local PD's have changed to it from Hornady TAP.

Is this what Cabela's is selling for 6 or 7 bucks? Because the new one here in Hazelwood still has about 50 or 60 cases as of Tuesday night.

American Eagle ammunition loaded with 63 gr Gold Dot bullets? I didn't even know such an animal was in existence! But I tend to like both Gold Dot bullets and American Eagle ammo. This will likely be pretty good ammo. BTW, how does it compare to other stuff in terms of cost? If it's cheaper than the Federal 64 gr TRU JSP's and Winchester 64 gr JSP's, I imagine this will be a popular load among many hunters, LEOs and home defenders alike.

Are you sure this ammo uses a 63 grain bullet? I have done several Google searches using those terms and I can't find any .223 ammo loaded with 63 gr JSPs. You think that if this fella has it, other people would as well. There should at least be some information available about it on the net.

OTOH, I am familiar with Federal's TRU line of LE ammo. But that uses a 64 gr JSP. And I don't think that uses Gold Dot bullets.

I'd be very curious about any info (including images of the boxes, product numbers, etc) that you can once your ammo arrives. This has me stumped at the moment.

Federal said that it is a 63-grain bullet. I cannot google anything either but I will get some pictures as soon as it comes in. I may even chronograph a box to see what it does.

I know that Federal makes LEO ammo, but it would be nice to read up on it. It should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.

We should have a rule you can't ask ammo questions without saying how much you paid for it.

Yes it is indeed a .223 Gold Dot. This is a new Speer LE load. For those familiar with the Federal Fusion line of ammunition, you will notice the bullet is very similar in appearance.
The load was created for ICE and the XMAE223 63grSP are perfectly good rounds that just didn't meet the VERY tight ICE specs.

It came in and I will have pictures later. I talked to our Federal rep and this is the skinny.

This is contract ammo for either the military or Government agency. He does not know what agency, only that they are the only 2 options.

Every so many rounds of production, they have to "pull-down" so many rounds to test. These rounds cannot be added back into the contract so they are boxed and sold.

The brass says FC with the date 07

The primer pockets have a blue/green sealer on it.

The bullet is the "gold dot" of the rifle world. The in-line model is the new fusion round. Federal does NOT make .223 ammo with the fusion bullet. They start at .243

It is a 63gr SP and is a defensive round.
