If i took 8 30 round mags and loaded them all to capicty with LC XM193 05 HS, then threw them into a 50 cal ammo can with some silica gel packs and put it away in a safe spot in the house, would you feel comfortable if you were the one shooting this ammo**?

**Some things to keep in mind
-Im in South FL
-Room Stays at 76-78 degrees
-Storage time in ammo can before ammo is fired
 5 yrs
 10yrs
 20 yrs
 30+ yrs

I would think the ammo would be fine. I sure would not trust a mag with a spring that has been compressed that long though. I keep a few loaded mags BUT I don't load more than 75% of what the mag can hold and I rotate them monthly.

Cycling, not compression, is what wears out springs.  They will be fine for many years, fully loaded.

Assuming you have already tried the mags and they are proven to be in good working order, then yes i would trust them stored this way for extended periods of time.

I have an Adventureline 30 round magazine that my brother gave me when he was in the Army. That was back in 90' or 91'.  It was loaded with 30 rounds of LC 855. Took it out last year and it ran through all rounds with no problem.

Shooting alot or loading and unloading the mags alot is what wears down a spring not keeping them loaded. I read an article in a gun mag about finding a WW2 1911 with a loaded magazine in it that was loaded for 12 years straight and they did'nt do a damn thing and it shot every round without a problem, just alot of smoke from the old rounds. They then took the same mag, put new ammo and stuck it in a Wilson 1911 and it fired all the ammo perfectly and locked the slide back after the last round. Now if thats not any indication of how long a mag can be loaded then I don't know what is.

No, I would not feel comfortable shooting that ammo due to the replacement cost of that ammo. 76-78 degrees would be nice shooing weather if there is a slight breeze blowing directly towards or away from me. It still bothers me in a small way when I go out and practice with my good brass cased ammo. I do retain my empty brass though. I shoot a lot of WOLF now when plinking. If I were putting mags away, then I would put away 9 that way I could fill my gear as well as have a mag in the weapon. I would rotate my SHTF ammo/mags every few years. There is nothing quite like a real life test using your first line gear at a training center with qualified instructors to locate deficiencies in your gear/training.

What reason would I be shooting? For recreation? Absolutely. For self defense? Not a chance. For that I want a real cartridge like 7.62X51, 7.62X54R, 7.62X63, 7.62X39.

I'm shooting some Hansen (Yugo I believe) .223 in my new Anvil Arms AR right now that I bought about 20 years ago for my Mini-14. Shoots great, some very small (1" - 2") 50 yard groups at the range last weekend. Proper storage and the ammo will last a long time. Reloading components as well actually.

Wish I'd bought more cases of it when I got it, I'm down to my last 250 or so rounds.

Thanks so far for the replies guys. This ammo would only be shot in the event that a terrible disaster happens, ie. another Katrina, or the GOV falls apart. I have confidince in my ''puny'' 5.56 round. Not implying that the poster who prefers a larger caliber cant shoot (cause i have no idea), but if a target is hit with a 556 in the COM vs a 762 in the leg, the the larger round doesnt help out much.
