Hey all!  I could not wait 12-16 weeks for a custom upper in Ruger .204.  So today I acquired a complete DPMS AR15 heavy stainless 24" barrel in the Ruger .204.  I plan to reload.  Do any of you have any suggestions as to the ideal reload for this caliber and AR configuration?

I plan on trying the 40 grain Berger bullet since my goal is to shoot varmints from 300-600 yards.  I do know that with this heavier bullet I will not achieve the 4000 fps velocity but bullet stability downrange is what I want.  Not saying that I can hit a prairie dog at 600 yards but I want the best reload capable for this range.  Any input is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

You might try asking DPMS. After all, they made the damn weird thing.

Have you tried posting this in the AR Reloading Forum

They might be able to give you some good info there.

A non-AR15.com forum with good .204 info is .204 forum

I bought a NEF .204 last year but haven't even got it to the range yet.  I really thought about an AR upper but for the money and very limited shooting, I just couldn't justify that
