I thinking 500 dollars or more of 50 caliber cans and bigger. I want to replace the plastic storage containers that i use for misc. household stuff. A tornado blew the roof off my house the other day, i did'nt lose anything that mattered but i'll be using more cans on the future. Who's got em cheap?

JG sales is one of the cheapest, but what you will find is that shipping is considerably more than the cans themselves.  I ended up picking some up at a gunshow for $3 each just to save the $ on shipping.

I have yet to find cheaper deals than gun shows.

WWW.Wideners.com has cans too.  I have no idea what shipping would run you on them though.

I've been hesitant to buy cans online because I don't want to end up with a bunch of rusted metal, so I usually buy them at gun shows. However, I haven't seen one can at a gun show around here in a long time. I need a couple of those SAW cans and maybe a few fifty caliber cans as well.

What has been the condition of cans coming from the sources mentioned above? If I lived near enough a military base that was selling those cans by the pallet, I'd bid on them in a heartbeat.

I was suprised to find my little local US Surplus store had a wide variety of ammo cans...but not 500 bills worth.

Yup, there is a guy that comes to the local shows and always has a bunch. Typically I walk out with (10)7.62 ammo cans for $30. Thats about all that is easy to carry in my duffle bag so I just buy 10 every time I go - usually I think I wont need them all but before the next show rolls around they have all been used for something.

What are the typical prices at gunshows?

3-4 years ago I picked up 4 for 10 bucks at a show.

It was the last day of the show and the guy was down to about 1/2 pallet left.   Didn't think he wanted to pack them up and transport them back so he had them marked down.

That might be a bit of a strategic thinking on the cans if you get to a show later on the last day.

Thanks, U_G. I've never been to one. They have gunshows down in Birmingham a couple of times a year. That might be a reason to go. I picked up a couple of beauts at a local gunshop. They don't carry them but had gotten some ammo in and had just put them on the shelf. 4 bucks each.

We have a salvage store here that uses them for bins for nuts and bolts. Thousands of them. Sometimes you can find some empties and they're in good shape. 5 bucks each. The duffel bag idea is a good one!

The Wideners grade A 50 cal cans are pretty good.  I have 15 of them right now.  6 of them cost me $30 plus $14 shipping.

I bought 10 50 cal. cans from armygear.net for a little less than $6 each shipped.  Best deal I could find on the net. 2 had very little rust that was easily removed with steel wool, the other 8 were just dirty.  Much better than the crap I used to buy from CTD and a lot less cash too.
Weidners was a close second but their shipping ended up killing the deal for me.
