That's weird. I have never had any issues with Korean, Israeli or South African ammo in any of my rifles. But then again, none of my rifles are made by DPMS.

BTW, I find these portions a bit contradictory when they say they have had problems with Korean, Israeli and South African ammo, then go on to recommend "high quality surplus ammo". Isn't the Korean, Israeli and SA pretty good quality surplus ammo?

DPMS CYA.  Particularly the bit about reloaded ammo voiding the warranty.  They do not want to have anything to do with some thumb-fingered moron's attempts at reloading causing a catastrophic failure with injuries-and I can't blame them.

That's typical stuff - Oly, Armalite, and others have posted similar stuff.  Nothing to see here.

At least Bushmaster doesn't recommend against the Wolf....apparently those DPMS rifles are a little soft.

Oly arms from what I understand and have been told by a rep, just tell you not to use Wolf ammo w/the polymer coating. Mainly because the coating can melt and cause problems. I called about using reman ammo and the rep said as long as I used quality reman ammo I'd be fine. He suggested Black Hills ammo. Which was my first thought anyway. Though I'm looking to buy some good quality reman, in bulk. Any suggestions?

I think you mean Lacquer.... that is when they started that campaign.  Polymer is new and doesnt "melt".  Of course, neither did the Lacquer.  The problem was two fold.... steel cases do not obterate to the chamber walls, and allow more carbon into the chamber, and the neck sealant used would build up over time and get smashed to the chamber walls.

One thing I know for sure.... is even when the .223 is no longer used... and we all have 40 megawatt plasma rifles..... there will still be Wolf rumors floating about.  Maybe Wolf will start making batteries for our plasma weapons so we can continue bashing it.

I wonder - if your rifle blew up... using BH ammo - would Oly honor it?  I am betting not.  No problemo tho - because if it was truly an ammo problem - you can bet Black Hills would.

As to quality reman - Black Hills, Georgia Arms, and HSM seem to be the front runners.  Some are starting to use Ultramax again.... but not me.

I think there's a distinction to be made between "remanufactured" ammunition (produced by someone that maybe Oly could "talk to" about sharing the cost of repair/replacement) and "re-loaded" ammunition (Oly's spelling-presumably stuff made up in somebody's basement).  And I agree with them on this point: there is no reasonable way Oly can be sure that Joe Reloader didn't load up some bad stuff intentionally to either get a new rifle or to make Oly look bad, while it's totally reasonable to expect that a remanufacturing business has its own best interest at heart and thus takes all the precautions and care appropriate in making ammo, as well as the fact that it's hard to think of how someone could get "intentionally bad" ammo from a remanufacturer.  It's a business and legal standing decision, and I think they have tried to get a good balance between "use what's out there" and "don't sue us."

I just got a new DPMS upper. I was messing around and found that some Miwall reloads I bought wouldn't fully chamber if dropped in by hand and were stuck to tight to manually extract with the CH when fed from a magazine. I literally had to kick the CH to open the bolt and extract the rounds. With no BCG in the rifle, I dropped a round into the chamber and it would not come out by shaking or banging the stock onto the floor, I had to use a rod.

These same rounds gave no problems in a Del-Ton 20" A2 and a Fulton 24" and would fall out if dropped into a chamber by hand.

Federal XM900 has become wayyyy to expensive due to the Martian Wars so I've recently gone to Wolf lacquer coated rail gun projectiles. If you buy 4 cases AIM will throw in an M97 plasma grenade too!
