do you think i should stock up on ammo now even thou the prices are up? do you think they will ever come down? since i don't have any reserve and with the elections turn out i'm a little worried. i've been shooting winchester white box from wally world and monark from accamidy. buy now or wait? |
I think this question is better answered by your bank account and your personal situation. I have started to stock up since August due to the price increase, which is probably too late by alot of folks' timelines. I can't see ammo going down. Maybe Wolf, and the like, but not good surplus in 5.56mm and other popular mil calibers. Honestly, I would buy your ammo now. If I were a betting man, I wouldn't count on ammo going down given the various situations in our world today. If I'm wrong....WE ALL WIN. ARCAPTN |

Yup. Agreed. Go M193 for SHTF. Guat to plink. You're gonna pay more for it, but doggone it, at least you'll have it. With them Demon-rats in office, look for all kinda "tax" or outrite "bans" on ammo. Crime is "up" big time where I am; no jobs; welfare money drying up; tornadoes and blizzards here up north, power outages and ancient grids; I needs my ammo just to feel better about things. P.S. I am "in-route" to Uvalde, partner! Retiring early. |
I'm way behind the curve regarding how much ammo I should have stocked up. But I think you should just buy what you can, when you can, and you should have a steady flow in new ammo. Don't wait to run out before buying more. |
| Always be on the lookout for a deal on ammo. Just make it a second habit. Then, when you come across one, buy, buy, buy. Only spend what you already saved up, do not borrow money or CC gunstuff. [carry balance] Shoot half, put away half in long term storage, then when you get to a predetermined amount, rotate out old and put in newer if you like. |

Everyday a 22lr range ammo I use Wolf M193 and LC M855 and i try to shot 1 box of Black hills 75 and 77 while at the range its hard to save it back! M193 and surplus is made for PLINKING I would store maybe 1000rds of M193 but thats it I would shoot the rest SHTF is 75gr and MK262 and maybe PP/WOLF 75 until I test it out |

For plinking, you can get some HSM 223 55 grain reloads for about $170 per 1 k. I consider that a pretty good deal; its cheaper than Federal American Eagle, and priced on par if compared to Wolf (brass cased beats out steel cased ammo any day in my book). For SHTF, with the price of XM193 and or Q3131, you would probably be better off getting some HSM 556 75 grain ammo for a few buck more (looks to average about $40 more per 1k). This option gives you a better choice of bullet for a SHTF situation. Just my $0.02 |
Good source for HSM? |

You appear to be new to this like me and I'll be the first to admit that I don't know shit. Bought some Quat (900 rds), Fed AE (300 rds) Georgia Arms (200 rds) UMC (60 rds). I liked the AE and Quat. The UMC was all over the paper. I didn't get a chance to try the Georgia Arms. I ordered some M855 and Radway. Walked into Sports Authority and they had WWB .223 55r fmj on sale for $3.47 a box. Bought 10 boxes (made sense to me). Try it all. Buy what works. I'm loving it. Good luck RRA Entry Tactical (gov't profile) |
| Don't forget, for plinking almost any .223 will do; the diff in pressure chamber won't matter as long as it cycles the rifle! If your like me, the first mag or two go slowly and then I just leter'rip. For stockpiles and the always popular "SHTF" I would go with non-corr, any primer, 5.56 nato spec round, loaded on stripper clips and housed in cans. |
