I got my 2 cases in tonight and I do not know why but I was expecting the metal cases that I received on my first SA order a while back. These came in brown plastic cases. I wonder if these were all from the same batch or if AIM had a couple of batches over the last year or so.

Chances are it'll be 84 dated. The 5.56 SA from that era had plastic cases and I'd expect the 308 would also.

They took a pack out of each case to keep them under the max shipping weight. I imagine they are out of the original cases and are shipping the packs in whatever they have around to use.

These are the original SA cases. They have the same sticker on them that the metal case had and the latches on one side are still sealed with leaded wire. AIM snipped the two on the other side to remove the 2 battlepacks for shipping weight.

I am not bitching, they will be useful later down the line when they are empty but I do like the metal cases as well.

They shipped my 700 rd case of 7.62x39 in its original box with a shipping label slapped on it. I would have preferred a bit more discreet carton but it got here OK.

fxntime,

The battlepacks have 590 A 84 on them so you are probably right about the year.

My last order was in the plastic tubs and was dated '88!  That's way newer than the other SA I've got, and I've got a bunch.
