I just bought a used AR 20" HBAR Bushmaster with 500 rounds of Wolf 55Gr. Coppper FMJ, Steel Case. Non Corrosive Boxer Primed. Is there any problems with this ammo? I hear pros and cons about Wolf. Thanks. |

I love the WOLF 62 GR. Copper FMJ. Accuracy was well above what I expected. Read the Ammo Reviews here: Ammunition review - WOLF (Polymer coating) I have to run but here read these posts. It's my fun time with the WOLF 62 GR. Copper FMJ. WOLF 62 Grain Copper FMJ Steel Case - At The Range WOLF .233 Rem 62 GR. Copper FMJ - Polymer coating ? (Range Report Added) Hope this help... |
The "Red Stuff", to my understanding, is the sealant. I believe in the older Wolf rounds they had the sealant around the neck and the primer. That caused a little more "red stuff" residue in the rifle. They newer Poly coated Wolf have the Red sealant around the primer and not the neck so you get a lot less of the sealant residue in the rifle. I use gun scrubber to "blow it off" the rifle. It's not big deal and should not "scare" or "over concern you". It comes off nice and clean. If you are worried about the Wolf then just order some Radway Greens from Widener's. I mean hey at $125 / 720 rounds you're not that far from the Wolf price range and now you're shooting nice clean brass. It's your call either way. I've shot both and loved both. (less cleaning with the RORG). |

I've shot about 3000 rounds of wolf ammo and had zero problems until the last time I was at the range. My buddy has also shout over 1200 rounds out of his new DPMS 16" carbine, and hadn't had any problems until the same trip to the range. Mine had 1 FTE with Wolf, and 1 FTE with silver bear, everything else ran fine, but my buddies had like every 4th or 5th round FTE. Figured out what the problem might be when I asked him if he used a good chamber brush and he said "I use a bore snake" and I explained what a chamber brush was and he said "Oh, I don't have one of those". So we got him one and we're waiting to head back out to the range and see if that fixed the problem. |
love the NON chlorinated BRAKE CLEANER its on of the BEST TIPS Ive heard in a long time Here |
Yeah Non Chlorinated Breake Cleaner is good for everything, I take it for my head cold as well. Now remember: Apply Directly to The Forehead!!! Apply Directly to The Forehead!!! Apply Directly to The Forehead!!! Apply Directly to The Forehead!!! Apply Directly to The Forehead!!! Now as for the Wolf ammo we can talk about the pros & cons all day. Your only sure bet is to shot some and see how your AR likes it.

What is crude about it? Yes we know it is cheap and steel cased. For me it makes a great practice round as it gets about the same accuracy (62 grn fmj) as my M193 or M855 go-to ammo gets, although a little under powered. Personally I make it a point to make sure that all my rifles shoot not only the good stuff flawlessly, but the lowest common denominator in a box as well. If they don't, then there is a problem with the rifle. |
