Please read the Ammo FAQ tacked to the top of the page. There are two lists with reviews by Troy and Doctor Gary Roberts which have information on what makes good defensive ammunition.

Not to mention the link is there to B&T Ammo Labs testing of the 75grn match BTHP which would be a good choice IF your rifle can handle them.....

Always read the tacked topics...

Why the comment?

Because of his firearm of choice or the amount of ammo?

ETA:

I personally don't see anything wrong with either.

+1 on the XM193

You might want to read ALL of the tacked posts in the ammo forum.  You'll save yourself a lot of grief.

I was going to say the same. Plus he really should load his magazines ahead of time.

Now for a serious response.  For me there are three choices.
M193 - 55gr FMJ - Good all around ammo
M855 - 62gr FMJ w/steel perpetrator - Better if you think you need to shoot through intermediate barriers.  Worse if you neighbor's exterior walls in an 'intermediate barrier'
Win 64 gr Power Point - This bullet uses expansion rather than fragmentation.  It's personal preference (a.k.a. a holy war) as to which is better.

My AR`S both 1/7 and 1/9 can handle the 77gr FINE

Right now Im useing Black hills  BB 75gr

I would feel just as SAFE and protected with M193 or M855 and my RANGER 64 Power Point

Wich is cheaper than the regular WIN POWER POINT
Ranger 64gr 11.00 a box of 20rds

Can you please show me the data that led you to the conclusion that M855 is a good barrier round?  I see this often and cant figure out where its coming from.  All I have seen is it will penetrate the barrier and rip out the penetrator and shed its jacket and become a blob of lead with reduced penetration and wounding characteristics when going through tough barriers like auto glass etc.

Odds are he will get similar accuracy and far better termianl performnace from 75 grain TAP 5.56 than he will from M193 in his 1/9 barrel.

I was trying to say something like that???? i dunno..... all I know is the 75gr is a body dropper from what ive read, and I have all the M193 I need, cause thats my GP round... so there is no reason to keep it for SHTF, I want a body dropper for that.... I think thats what I was trying to say today at work....

I thought that was the only good thing about the M855.  I even saw an article in which they tested the M193, M855, Mk262 against various barriers and the M855 smoked them.

Wow.  I'd like to read that article.  I've found that M855 does almost nothing better than M193.  If you (not YOU specifically) are looking for barrier penetration from anything out of 5.56, I think you're barking up the wrong tree in the wrong forest.

Then let's hear from the right Forest.

For barrier penetraion with good terminal results on the other side, follow Dr Roberts advice (from the duty ammo thread):

www.tacticalforums.com/cgi-bin/tacticalubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=78&t=001244
... something like the Fed Tac 55/62 gr JSP or the Nosler 60 gr JSP.

If you want to penetrate a steel helmet at 600M then select the M855.

I went the cheap route and bought RANGER 64PP 11.00 a box For extra penetration

Also Like Markm above M193 can almost do everything M855 can do
can the 64pp or TBC pass threw the same metal plates as the M193/m855?
