Im 17, I own a M1A. I want to buy a case of SA battlepack ammo from AimSurplus before they run out, but since Im underaged, I need my parents to buy it. The only problem is convincing my parents. They believe that sending a pic of a drivers license online is a bad move, (they think the internet is all a big identity theft scheme). They also think that SA Ammo isnt running out, that its just a scam to jack up the price. Also, they're bringing up that "Howcome South Africa has surplus ammo? Are they in a war or something?". My Dad also thinks I should just buy reloading equipment, which is a good case, but thats something that I'll do down the road. (Also, do you or do you not have to have this shipped through a FFL?) Please help me convince my parents that SA battlepack ammo is really running out and that AimSurplus is a reliable website to buy ammo from. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it. BigHunter27. |
| Why am I being bashed, I though I asked for help. And the M1A is mine, i used my money to buy it, it's not registered under my name because Im below the required age. Also, why would you ask such a dumb question when you knew the answer? How many people grew up with a gun that was theirs? A gun maybe given to them from a grandpa or a father? It was theirs, but it wasnt registered under their name. Im insulted to think people like you are on ar-15.com |

BigHunter27: HOWDY! Tell the folks you will make them a "deal"- They buy you the case of SA 7.62 as "insurance" and they will hold it for you, in the meantime: You reload! Best of both worlds. P.S. at age 17 in Texas, you can own a rifle with "written consent of parent or guardian." TEX Penal Code Sec. 46.01-and-TEX Constitution, Article 1, Sec. 23 |

Geez--My Mom signed for me to get a Ruger Single Six as my 14th birthday present...And the drinking age was 18yrs, and we had to walk to school barefoot, in the snow, uphill--both ways...Frankly, I think the age stuff is BS--there are 30 yr's who shouldn't be allowed to touch a firearm, alcohol, or a car due to stupidity--but they get drivers licenses, guns, etc...Rant off! If your folks are progressive enough to let you own an M1A--I'd bet you can chat with them and tell them the SA ammo is reliable and inexpensive compared to other stuff--and you can even throw in the "safer" until you learn how to properly reload. Can't hurt. And do some leg work on the net and try to find another place selling the stuff. You may find it slightly more espensive, but not have to send a drivers license copy and just have your folks sign for it when it arrives. Otherwise, save your cash and try to get to a gunshow--where it'll probably be more expensive than mail order. Good luck! |
To bad sportsmans dosent have it or you could order it to your house |
I"m really having a hard time understanding why some feel the need to "bash" you also for your post. You come in with a legitimate request and some feel the need to disrepect you and post with no purpose. sMake a comparison list of how much each round would cost to reload (including your time) vs ordering SA surplus. Show your parents, the info and ask them to mail a copy of their drivers license along with your personal check for the ammo. |
yes you can mail it in, this is how i did it. |
My First a Rem single shot 22 that was passed down from my Grand Ma it sat in a Gun cabinet until I was about 9 Practice safety and shooting then when I turn 12 I could have it alone by myself Trusted The rifle was never registerd to me and now its waiting fot my Little girl to turn 12 Anway I do understand your Parents CONCERN !
