Rather than whine about the wal mart situation where they are removing firearms and ammo from stores do something about it.  Don't buy ANYTHING from the stores where they are removing these items and the Executives will quickly learn that the sportsman are the hands that feed the wal-mart giant.  I used to buy ammo from wal-mart, but have no found that there are cheaper places to get the same ammo.  Boycott all stores that remove the fireamrs sections and they will be brought back swiftly.

Won't work.  Too many other people buy there.

Simple solution.....buy ammo on line.  It's usually a better price.

I still buy 9mm value packs there.  Good price still.

I agree with you Lsky1982.

I don't whine on WalMart, I just don't buy their ammo anymore.
It seems only thing left that's good to buy is the clays. Their loss....

Thats why it won't work.  You buy 9mm there cuz you can save a few cents.  Total Boycott or no boycott is the only options.

Every time I have gone to the ammo section it is unmanned.   It takes forever to get someone there and they usually have a couple boxes of each item.  I haven't bothered with them in years.  Save your time and much aggravaiton and buy it online.  Times worth $$ you know.

I don't think a boycott of Walmart has a snowball's chance.

Think about the way they work - if something sells more, they give it and products like it, more shelf space.  If a product sells less, they give it less space.   They continually monitor and update their product mix, taking into consideration a surprising number of factors including but not limited to: seasonal changes in buying patterns, regional buying patterns, projected weather patterns, cost, profitability, etc. etc.

The way to get Walmart to carry more of something is buy more of it - regularly and consistantly.   Then they'll keep it there all the time.

This isn't a plug for Wal-mart, just my observations about their operational methodology.

All my local Wal-Marts, Sports Athourity and local sports stores stopped carrying firearms between 1 and 3 years ago, now the only place that sells ammo around me here in NJ charges $15 for a 20-round box of UMC 115g 9mm.  It's also becoming harder and harder to find anyone who deals in firearms or accesories around here, and anyone that does charges a hefty premium.  I don't get why it's happening, I think our town and surrounding towns are just putting pressure on the retailers to keep all the "dangerous weapons" off the streets.

One of our wal-marts around here stopped selling firearms after some guy came in an bought some ammo then went to the parking lot and blew his head off with his handgun.  Now for some reason they still sell ammo there, just not the guns, wven though the guy used his own gun to kill himself.  Thats the government for ya because the store was stripped of its ffl to sell guns, but was issued one to sell ammo... go figure.

Under that line of thinking they need to stop selling a lot of things.  Cigarettes because people are dying of cancer, unhealthy food because people are dying of obesity related illnesses, knives because somebody could slit their wrist or stab somebody, etc.

If Wal Mart decides to stop selling *anything* it is after careful consideration of the profit line.  If their analysis show that the floorspace can generate more profit selling something else - it will be converted to that purpose.  Like all other retailers - Wal Mart exists for a single purpose - the generation of profit.

Buying less ammo from them turns your concerns into a reality.  Wal Mart stocks what sells best.

Boycott Wal-Mart? You got a better chance of seeing 11 million aliens doing a mass exodus to south of the border.

Everybody and their brother goes to Wal-Mart, its the largest retailer in the world, and still growing. It will take a hell of a lot more than "most" sportsmen banning it to make even the slightest dent.

I can't exactly boycott Wal-Mart, but their ammo prices have gotten outrageous to the point I can get it online for about the same or less money.

In addition, the way my local Wal-marts store ammo is horrendous. I cannot get close enough to see the packaging, price, etc... I have to ask some wal-mart employee to come over and unlock the cabinet that is 12' away and show me the ammo. Sigh...

Meijer just recently removed a lot of their ammo stock from the shelves. Michigan is rapidly turning into a blue state. Most of the words coming out of the mouths of college/grad students regarding firearms does NOT instill confidence for this state's future.

Walmart's had great prices on some line of Guns, like the 870 Shotguns that a reqular FFL could not compete with and the buyer got a good price.  Our WALMART making tons of money because their Parking lot is always full, and nearby Kmart, now had to be converted to Sears Store.

The shiped their Guns to a nearby Store in a smaller town after building a beutiful cabinet for GUNS 2 weeks back.  It now houses paintball guns or something like that.

They kept the Ammo to sale and have no plan on removing that.

Maybe they lost their FFL here ... or they do not sell enough  Guns.

But Bass PRO is coming here and we have Cabella's a little ways, so one can still buy at a competive price.  The local Gun store will always benefit from lose of Kmart and Wallmart in this town.

I just glad we can buy elsewhere.

A big +1 on that.

S&B or Blazer can be had for the same price online when you buy by the case.

Those darn value packs at Wal mart are starting to look better and better at the price of eveything else these day. I walked by then today when I was looking for something else. The shelf was full.
I won't go clean off the shelf but if I wanted a couple of boxes before I went shooting again to keep out of my stash I might and I say MIGHT buy them.
