I've heard many people on this sight RAVE about the 155gr AMAX. I was curious if the 168gr AMAX was just as good.  I have my rifle set up for Sierra 168gr HPBT's and since the weight and BC are similar I figured the change in POI for the 2 rounds would be less than if I used the 155gr's.  Let me know what you think, or what you have heard.

Significantly less fragmentation than 155 but still better than the 168 Match King.

According to Hornady's testing info there is a difference in fragmentation but I don't know if I would so far as to say it's significant but that's just me. I don't have the data book at home, I leant it to one of the guys at work but "if" I remember correctly the 155 was running about 45% fragmentation while the 168 was doing about 38%. I keep the T loaded with 168s and the A4 with 155s. I would like to tste some 178 but I only seen them offered in 300 WINMAG.  BTW all of the TAPs in .308 will fragment out to 300 yards according to Hornady.

Thanks alot for all the info guys... I guess I'll buy a box of both and do some POI and group testing if I can get away with not changing my 200yrd zero I'll stick with the 168's... otherwise I'll go with the 155's and note the deviation.

any info or pictures of the 178 A-MAX in balistic gelatin. this is what i am useing now and my gun loves this load and hates light bullets of allmost any make. i also like the 178 A-MAX as a long rang load so if it works for both than this would work great for me. thanks.
