The price list thread shows that Sportsman's Guide has this "XM193PD" ammo for sale.

I added it to my cart and applied the $15 coupon, after shipping (I'm not a member of their discount club) the total was 181.96.  That seems to be a great price, but the note in the price list that it is "XM193PD" makes me hesitant.

Does anyone have any information on this ammo?

It is the same M193 that you are thinking of, good ammo.

Thanks.  Seems like a good price for 1000 rounds of m193

It's been their going rate for some time now.  You should also sign up to be a member and you can apply the discount on your first order.  It's a win-win situation, if you don't break even on the first ammo order, you will on the second and subsequent.

Unlike the XM193 which initially came out in 20 rd boxes in a 500 rd case, Federal began selling the XM855 loose in 1,000 rd cases, and it was marked XM855PD. I bought a case, and it all went bang without issue. Examination of the rounds showed inconsistently applied primer sealant, and in some cases no sealant at all.

Recent supplies of XM193 have appeared packed loose just like the XM855, and similarly marked PD. If you think about it, packing the stuff loose requires a lot less time and expense than loading it into 20 rd boxes, and since Lake City is running flat out, the change makes sense.

Some time ago a member deployed in the Sandbox reported that his unit had received several cases of the XM855PD loose ammo, and they were told it was to be used only for training, practice, zeroing their rifles, etc. My guess is that the PD suffix stands for "Practice and Demonstration".

Good ammo, just doesn't completely meet the DoD milspec.

The PD stands for "Police Department" if I'm not mistaken. It's ammo that failed QC checks at Federal and was not suitable for military use. Primer sealing is a common culprit here. From previous discussions, it would appear that it's just fine to use, but not up to military standards. I'm not sure what other problems there would be with a round that would disqualify it for military use, but OK to shoot otherwise.
