Looking for a little long-range advice here. Assuming a Lilja 20" 1X8 barrel in an AR-15, what is the recomended ammo for varminting. Is the consensus that the Black Hills stuff is most consistant? What are peoples experiences with their moyl coated bullets? Thanks in advance for any advice possible. A.J. |

1:8 twist? 75grn Amax if it shoots well in your gun, should be no reason for it not to. Other bullets to try, 60grn Nosler Balistic Tip, 55grn varieties of Hornady Vmax, Sierra BlitzKing, and Nosler Ballistic tips. Out of those bullets SOMETHING will be accurate at ranges out to 500 yards for raining hell on varmintcong. |

Do you handload at all? If so you might be able to save a considerable amount of money on these sorts of rounds over the retail prices for commercially loaded ammo using these bullets. It's the only stuff I will bother to handload for. 14-18 bucks a box of 20 rounds is just a retarded amount to pay when I can essentially handload 100 rounds myself for what it would cost to buy maybe 2 boxes of the commercial stuff. |

I know your right. When I was shooting IPSC, I used to handload .45 and .38Sup. and it was the only way to go shooting that many rounds. Problem is that I barely have time to shoot these days, much less reload. Thanks for the advice, but I think I'm going to stick with factory ammo for now. A.J. |
I've tried and failed miserably (although, I'm admittedly not all that experienced of a reloader). The crimp point ends up being quite a ways up the ogive. I've never heard of anybody getting it to work at mag length. |
