Wolf problems? > Ammunition

I purchased my first AR today (bushmaster A2 1/9) took it to the range with Wolf and could not get it to group (55gr) the way I expected. The last 2 times out I shot my SKS and have had Wolf blow caps off the back of the rounds. Cant afford those gunsmith bill every time out. I do not want to see that happen with my AR? Anyone else had that problem?

First thing is to read the ammunition review thread tacked to thetop of the forum. There's plenty of comments for new poly coated and older lacquered case Wolf.

To summarize: In AR's, some people have problems with Wolf either due to short-stroking, or stuck cases. Others don't like the accuracy. Most people have no problems. I have never heard of anyone with the problem you describe, especially in 7.62x39. Are you talking about primers popping out? That could be an indication that there's something wrong with the ammo or even your rifle. Did you try non-Wolf ammo in your rifle?

1/2 inch of the back case came off and the rest is in the chamber.

how is your headspacing? From what I have read it can look like the casing exploded or was hit by a sledge hammer

YES WOLF IS CRAP.THEY OVER LOAD THEM ,AND IV'E HAD CASE'S SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE.THE RIM'S ARE UNEVEN AND HAVE ,HAD MANY EXTRACTION PROBLEMS.

Split down the middle?!

I've never heard of Wolf being loaded hot. That's about one thing I feel one can count on not happening.
Sounds like you've got an out-of-spec chamber.

Tried to put some Wolf through my Eagle Arms 16", constant extraction malfunctions that took a cleaning rod, hammer, and pliers to correct. Look for federal whitebox or winchester when it's on sale.

My Oly shoots the 62gr better than the 55.

Seems that some rifles like it more than others. My shooting buddy has a Colt full size that will eat anything, also his is well used. Mine however is a virgin (under 200 rounds) and has only had problems with Wolf.

No problems with WOLF in any of my guns and at $80/1000rds for 223 and $90/1000 for 45. Great cash and carry deal, cant beat it

Never a single problem with it in any of my guns either. I shoot it in 9mm, .45acp, .223 both 62gr and 55gr, and of course the 7.62x39. Subguns, bolt guns, semi auto rifles and pistols.

Over the past several years I have fired tens of thousands of rounds of Wolf without a single failure or malfunction of any kind.

The new polymer stuff is even better than the older production Wolf, and please...don't start about the lacquer BS. If your gun is that tight you obviously don't shoot it much and it would probably fail with the best of ammunition or you have a chamber thats too tight and should only be using match ammo in it anyway.

With all the people so vehemently against using it, that insures that I'll have a supply of it for a long time to come.
