Anybody fire this ammo in AR-15's? Extraction, accuracy, quality reports?

I ran a couple hundred rounds.  Accuracy was on par with military surplus - it chronoed to the M855 specification.  No problems with feeding/extraction/ejection.

I'd recommend it.

However, there have been some reports with problems with the Olympic ammo.  I have not see them but Troy and others have reported on them.  Wait to hear both sides of the story.

From the Ammo Review tacked to the top:

You'll notice that Olympic has the worst rating of all listed brands.  Read the linked thread to learn the details.

So the same Olympic problems are likely to apply to the 800 rnd cans being sold at some vendors, or another plant is involved?

I am specifically referring to the Greek Military 2001 production SS-109 spec ammo sold in 800 round cans. I see that the red & white 55gr stuff isnt that good, from others experiences. How about this military surplus stuff. Its not commercial ammo like the r & w boxed stuff.

Just got my ammo delivery. Its clean shining brass, crimped waterproofed primer, green tip, casemouth crimped into bullet cannelure, headstamped: NPA 01 5.56X45 packed into an 800 round tin can.

Is this stuff giving others the same problems as the 55gr red & white boxed ammo? Wont be able to test it myself for awhile.

is it packed loose in the can, and how is the can sealed?

I never used their 55 grain ammo, but everyone seems to have had trouble with their SS109 crap in the red and white box.  Do yourself a favor, try to order either IMI M855 or try the Hotshot SS109, both have a much more solid reputation including personal experience.

Opps, too late you received it, well good luck.

Thanks Phobia! Hope I dont run into problems.

Nick13, the rounds are loose inside of a square tin can. No strippers, but I have that covered. Its sold through
ammunitionstore.com, got it online for $140/800rds. Good deal for ss-109, just cross my fingers it runs good.
