Last spot report I heard was that the Army was doing official testing of BMT and/or BMT was actually going to submit its ammo to true scientific testing.  Anybody know anything?

You can believe that rumor when you actually see the report with your own eyes, and then have it verified here by folks who are actually in the military.

The thing is that BMT's ammo really isn't anything new.  Several companies have "invented" the high-velocity, low-weight bullet thing before, using a variety of different bullet construction.  While these bullets always do well on a test designed to show one facet of bullet performance, they all fail to perform consistantly on a broader set of tests.  Inevitably, this is because the designers all had made false assumptions of the desired performance criteria was, or simply disagreed or refused to accept that standard.  And inevitably, those companies fade into the sunset when their designs are not widely adopted.

Believe me, if BMT or anyone else could actually design a bullet that did what they claim it does and did as well or better than current loads in standard tests, we would all be clamoring to buy it.  But we aren't clamoring to buy BMT ammo, because we know better.

If BMT's ammunition can do all of that, the designer/s would win a noble prize in Metallurgy / Materials Science / Physics.

Just about every two months or so, this topic gets revived.  Now I just kick back and watch all the exitement.
