I have a chance to buy PMC M193 ball ammo (brown boxes in wooden crates) from ca. 1981 for $150 per case of 1000 rounds. Should I bite and buy a shitload of it?

Tnx all.
Cheers!

Him, I'm about half way through about 10K of '79 PMC that I use for function testing and sighting-in. It all seems fine but it's not nearly as accurate as LC XM-193. $150/K seems high for 23 year old ammo.

PMC brown box is good ammo loaded to original military spec (as in 3150 fps). If it hasn't been subjected to too much humidity would consider it a good buy. Can you inspect before buy? Ask to see if you can test fire a sample.

If you're just planning to shoot it up, then, sure, go ahead.  It's older, but it was good stuff.

If you're planning to keep it around for SHTF ammo, then spend the extra few bucks a case and get XM193, which is new production.

Troy;

I planned on getting three cases which will last me a year or more at my usual rate. I may get a chance to try some tomorrow if it isnt either raining or blowing too hard.

Tnx to all who replied.
