Hoedy all.  I need your advice on some ammo.

I'm brand spanking gnu to the AR world; I just purchased a Rock River AR14 A2M4.  It is marked "5.56".  Can I safely use .223 ammo in this rifle?

Yeah, I know - probably a double dumb question!

Next double dumb question:  The ranges in this area require the use of soft point or hollow point ammunition.  Can anyone recommend a type of ammunition that will fit the bill for me?  Can you steer me towards where I can find it?

Thanks in advance.

Yea, 223 is fine in a 5.56 chambered weapon.

Walmart sell a 40 round Winchester white box, w/ red Winny letters, 55 grn and 45 grn HP ammo IIRC, at a decent price. Shoots well in my RRA and Busheys.
