| What is the sticky crap all over my XM193 lot 19 ammo?? My Q3131A is so nice and clean and the federal 193 is covered in crap. Does this stuff ever effect the functioning of the rifle? Is this just cosmetic, it sure is gooey. I plan to crono this stuff in comparison to the 3131A and if it's no hotter I'll buy winchester from now on. Btw, it was $84/500 at the last gunshow in Portland if anyone's interested in the current pricing. |

Its the sealant that they used to seal the neck to make it water proof , some of the earlier lots didnt have it. Its nothing wrong with it just that Federal didnt clean up and Polish the ammo after assembly . The Winchester company and IMI is fastidious about cleanliness, Have you ever seen a dirty Winchester Round? I have never seen one Military or Civilian. The Xm193 were meant for military use by the thousands so they really dont care about its looks, as long as it Functiuons. |
