If there was a BCM of 9mm bolts who would it be?

I don't think colt makes a ramped bolt correct?

Would RRA be what I'm looking for?  Can anyone explain the octagonal bolt?

I like my QC10.  It's way nicer than the RRA or PSA I have.  Although they all work the same, the RRA and PSA visually look like shit compared to the QC10.

OP...this could be a good thread with some good info.

BUT....you need to bring something to the table in the way of some research on the subject you want to discuss.....like  what's available, who makes what, etc.

Example of research....

How many manufacturers are currently making 9mm BCG's ??

What are the weights of the 9mm BCG's from each manufacturer ??

What BCG components are compatible with others ?? (like firing pin, extractor, etc.)

Do some stuff like that, and this thread will be valuable and useful.

So...go get on that computer, and do some work, and make this thread great.

Is there even a mil-spec standard for 9mm BCGs like there is for 5.56?  I don't think so, so there wouldn't really be a BCM of 9mm bolts.  I suppose that one could make the argument that Colt is the BCM of 9mm bolts, but that would just be opinion.

Colt and RRA are good quality "standard" bolts.  Spinta also seems to be good quality.  I'm not personally a big fan of CMMG, but others like them.  Then you've got non-standard bolts like NFA that seem to have their issues, but still maintain a strong following.  Then you have expensive bolts, like QC10 and JP bolts.  There's others selling/reselling bolts as well - I'm not sure who's actually making each of them.

I personally think a better question is what are you trying to accomplish by finding the BCM of 9mm bolts?  Are you just looking to say that you have the best available 9mm bolt?  Do you just want the most expensive 9mm bolt?  Are you looking for something specific from the bolt (material spec, finish, or other criteria - ex. 2-piece or removable weight)?  What is it going to be put in (uber high end build or a shooter - what's your build list)?

As far as the octagonal cut, I believe it is mainly just for looks.  There are a lot of companies trying to differentiate their bolts with different machining on the portion visible through the ejection port, but I don't personally think any of it really serves much of a purpose.

Thanks cochraneap and kevin.

I actually went with a standard NFA bolt, based on a friends input from using their stuff.

I know there is no "milspec" for 9mm bolts, but I was just wondering what might be considered closest.

I don't care about looks either, just something that will run without issues.

I'll be using it on a m16a1 full auto lower, so it will get a lot of usage, which includes subgun matches.

I've never had a problem with BCM bcg's with thousands of rounds on them.  If there was something like that in 9mm, that's what I was looking for.
