I am looking at doing a 22lr pistol upper, with intent to SBR it later.

If I use a CMMG 4.5" bolt / barrel combo (seen here) will this work with a standard forged upper?  I was considering using an Anderson sport / slick side upper (seen here)

If the upper works, other than that would a standard charging handle work?

Yes, the CMMG kit is a drop in conversion for the bolt carrier group. All other parts are standard. I just shot my 11.5 inch pistol with that kit this afternoon. Awesome little gun.

Do both, a .22 suppressed is the cat's meow.
A 9 sub suppressed is the bobcat's growl.

I'm considering it. Haven't decided yet.

I figure there's a decent chance of getting a 22 to shoot straighter. I can handload 9mm for the cost of 22 if I cast for it, but seeing how neither are high velocity in having trouble justifying the 9mm over the 22.

I have both a 4.5" .22lr and a 8.5" 9mm AR.

The .22lr is so much fun, you have to build one. Especially if you have a can for it.

old comment... but if you want a reliable .22lr platform, consider a Boonie Packer Better Mag Adapter to use SW15-22 magazines...

about the charging handle... I use the polymer CMMG handle with my 10" upper as well as my 16" as I think it helps with ejected brass from catching in the handle ...
