| What type flash hiders is everyone using for 9mm |
|
Greetings, Yankee Hill Machine that I picked up at a gun show. To be honest, at the time there didn't seem to be a large variety of MDs threaded for 9mm so can't say I did any comparative shopping or had a specific reason for picking that one. I've never shot my AR9mm in the dark, so can't comment on effectiveness. Good luck! Regards, Jim |

I use a regular A2 reamed out to pass the larger 9mm bullet. This. I've got 2 or 3 of them, and they work well. Just be sure you don't screw a .223 flash hider on there by accident. I use a steel number punch to put a "9" on my 9mm flash hiders. Or you could use a different type of hider. For example, use an A1 FH for 9mm, and an A2 for .223. |
| I'm currently using a KAK flash can on my 8.5" barrel and it's working fine. I found a 9mm CMMG A2 for $13 on joebobs so I ordered it. I haven't tried it out yet to see if it's much different though; it didn't come with a crush washer so I need to find a 9mm one somewhere before I can install it. |

In my humble opinion, a 9mm AR has absolutely no "need" for "compensation" of any kind.
Compensators do two things: cost money and make the muzzle blast do things the other folks on the range don't like. Sometimes they also do a little more, like keep the muzzle down a bit more, but only when you have plenty of gas exiting the muzzle, which you won't with a 9mm. I have an A2 on both of my 9mm uppers, I think. (Maybe A1s? I don't recall off the top of my head.) They protect the muzzle from my clumsiness. Once I get a can in 9mm, that will change things.

I dig it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016ZDE28G/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awd_M43jxbZW5JE4D I usually try to avoid buying gun parts off Amazon due to all the Chinese pot metal crap on there, but I figured it was worth a gamble at only $7.99 shipped Prime, because I didn't want a plain jane knurled one. It's perfect, I would highly recommend it. Made in USA, flawless machining, nice finish, correct threads (I bet the reviewer who said threads were wrong tried to put it on a 1/2-28), size is spot on. |
