| The last thing I need to complete my colt pattern build is a bolt. Which would you recommend, cmmg, rra, new frontier or psa? Any other recommendations? |

I built mt QC10 Colt SBR over a year ago, and back then, there weren't a lot of choices in 9mm bolts. The overwhelming recommendations back then from ARFCOM was the CMMG Mk9 bolt (90BA4AD), so that's what I bought. Glad I did, because the function has been great with no malfunctions over 1000+ rounds fired. I use a Timney trigger and Slash's 9-QT buffer with an Wolff XP buffer spring suppressed with a Ti-Rant 9. I tried a lot of different buffer weights and buffer springs, and the SBR functions best when suppressed with all the tungsten weights in the buffer plus the XP buffer spring. It's the quietest and smoothest with that setup. It's a heavy rifle, but it sure is fun to shoot. I shoot pretty much AE9FP at the range and occasionally P9HST2 to make sure it cycles well with my SD/HD ammo. I've tested AE9FP against P9HST2, and they both feel the same and the POI appears to be the same from the bench (shooter is a lot less accurate than the rifle and ammo offhand).
Bottom line is the CMMG Mk9 bolt is the only one I have used and its been great so I can't recommend any other at this point. I bought mine from Ammo Gals for $160 back then. I think you can still find them for around $170- $180 today if you look hard enough. |
