Im building my first 9mm AR deciding what barrel to use. I am going to use a UTG pro hand guard at 9" or 10.5" and am also set on using a KAK slim flash can which is 3.25". I have seen pictures of people using a 5 - 5.5" barrel with 7" hand guard with the KAK flash can which is perfect for just a tiny bit of the flash can to be seen. So using a barrel 1.5" shorter than the rail is perfect for the hidden flash can look.
So I would either get a 7.5" barrel for a 9" hand guard or a 9" barrel for the 10.5" hand guard to get the look I wanted. I don't ever see 7.5" barrels so I would need an 8" or 8.5 barrel and this would change the look of the gun with the flash can sticking out an inch or two. I can decide between that option or going to 10.5" HG and a 9" barrel. I don't think a longer barrel makes that much difference wih performance in 9mm. So the decision is more for looks. Any suggestions? I just thought I'd talk out what I'm thinking to see what other have to say. How do you decide what barrel length to have? |
