Tried running my new 9mm today for the first time. It didn't go as planned. I can charge the weapon fine to chamber the first round. Once fired it will not eject the spent casing. Upon further inspection I noticed the extractor looked funky, and by funky I mean bent.

I punched the roll pin out and sure enough the extractor was bent. So I tried bending it back somewhat straight and re installed it. It fired three rounds before a FTE and therefore jamming.

Picture 1: You can see where the extractor is only touching the casing on the very corner

Picture 2: Shows how bent the extractor is

Has anyone had problems with these PSA bolts in such a way? I sent them an email to see what I can do to try to make it operable again. If PSA doesnt have a replacement bolt or extractor is there any aftermarket parts that would work with the PSA bolt? Trying to upload some pictures but my photobucket has been acting up the past couple days. EDIT: Pictures up

That's wonky. I have seen many people buying PSA 9mm uppers and no issues I know of. *Factory defect?* Probably.

I think that's the general consensus on PSA stuff. I do believe it was just a defect. It was a Blem Bolt but blems are supposed to be cosmetic only. Hopefully we can get it squared away quickly so I can shoot this thing more

The bend is actually normal on a 9mm extractor....the twist not so much......what buffer spring combo are you using.........that could enter into it.

Try twisting it a little so the hook is more parallel to the case rim....I'm guessing that will eliminate the FTE.....if not...a friend of mine makes those bolts....they run the extractors on a swiss machine.....and he'd be interested if it is a QC issue.....Pretty sure I have some spares in my office......

Thanks for replying MM,

I tried a taking some twist out of it. It grabbed the casing a little better. I got two rounds to fire and eject, the third fired and I got an FTE. I didn't want to mess with it to much in case PSA wanted to see what was wrong or if it was quality control related. No word from PSA yet.

I am running a Slash 9Q heavy buffer and wolf XP spring.

Do they make a left handed upper?  The reason I ask is that the extractor looks like it was designed to fit on the other side of the bolt.  Then it would completely line up with the case rim lip. If they do make a leftie, this could explain your misfitting extractor.

Negative on the left handed bolt.........shoot me an email to [email protected] I might have something for you...

What weight bullet are you shooting? It is very possible you have too much spring and buffer.......I run all my 9mm's with a standard carbine spring and a buffer we make.......

And this is why we provide a buffer with our complete uppers...

Talked to my friend who made the bolt.....that is an early bolt...and they had an issue with the swiss machine making the extractors...It WAS twisting them......they thought they had scrapped all the bad ones...it one appear at least one got through.............he said he'd be happy to replace it..... but as I already have some spares......I'll just cover you.....swamped today...will make a point of getting it out in the AM....

Thank you again Rudy. I truly appreciate your help fixing a problem, especially if being a problem 100% not related to you. Thank you very much.
