Finally got the taccom bcg in to complete this 22 build. It's a taccom 22rf upper and their m4 profile barrel. I don't know if I've been hit with a case of stupidity or wtf but this bcg does not fit. The carrier bottoms out on the barrel collar with a half inch or more protruding from the rear of the receiver.
I have no experience with 22 ARs or their respective parts so maybe I'm overlooking something that would be obvious otherwise. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thought I'd be able to throw the bcg in and test fire the damn thing.

Spread the "cheeks" of your extractor so that it fits over the barrel collar...

The carrier? I figured it had to fit with the barrel collar but I am not seeing anyway it'll fit no matter how much I spread it. The left side of the collar doesn't have enough room for the piece to fit between it and the wall of the receiver

Hmmm, that does seem to be problematic...

ETA: Is the barrel collar on upside down?

Thanks for the help. I just sent them an email. Pretty disappointed right now. Was excited to get this completed for my wife but looks like I'll be waiting even longer

This is an unfortunate occurrence, hopefully they make the situation right and reward you for your obvious troubles

Can you take the barrel collar off, put it on the carrier, then slide the whole thing back in? Looks to me like it should work.

Yup that's exactly what it was. Tim just called me, talk about great customer service. About to go test fire now

Now it seems as if the firing pin isn't striking hard enough or protruding enough to fire the rounds
I guess 22 builds are more finicky than I anticipated

Try stacking a rubber plug/spacer on the buffer in the back in the back or buying the taccom plug or similar.

I've got their pressure plug installed already.

How light of a trigger do you have?

Its whatevrr comes in an Anderson lpk. Wondered if it was the trigger/hammer but figured it would be adequate.

OK.....well, first off, let verify that there IS a firing pin in there.  :)

NExt.....you'll want to push on the back end of the firing pin and see if the front end of the pin extends out to within .020" of the very front of the bolt.

Basically.....it should be sticking out from the base about 1/2 to 2/3's of that step

Don't know if you can tell anything from that but that's with the firing pin fully compressed. I don't have any calipers or anything to accurately measure.

It is possible that you have too many shims installed. Any way you can pull the firing pin out and see what is stacked on the back side?

You will have to disassemble your BCG then drive the firing pin roll pin out. The pin will slide out the back. There might be some really small shims on it that prevent the pin from sticking out too much. It looks like you might have one too many installed.

You could remove 2 of the shims under the head of the firing pin.

How do these bcg's disassemble? Do I just knock out the one roll pin to remove the firing pin?
8/1/2014 8:09:25 AM EDT
[#22]
There were only 2 shims on the pin.

Reinstalled everything and still no firing. The rounds aren't chambering smoothly either, they get jammed at an angle at the mouth of the barrel

Are you trying more than one type of ammo? Sometimes 22 semi autos are finicky about what they will work with properly. It can be either a part problem or a ammo problem.

Yep, I've got 3 different bulk bricks. 2 different federal and a Winchester. Tried a few of a different brand as well and still nothing.

Do you have any high velocity handy?  Sometimes a break in period is required...

I wondered about that as well. I don't have any high velocity right now but could probably get some. Best "quality"  I have right now I assume would be the federal "target" ammo

Regardless, the few that have chambered properly still wouldn't fire so there's still that issue

Do you use this lower on anyhting else?  Is this the first upper you have tried to shoot with the lower?

Can you post a photo of the hammer/trigger in the lower.

I tried the upper on a lower with a mil spec cmmg lpk and a lower with a Cmc 3.5 trigger. No go on any of them.
I'll post a pic when I get home.

I built the lower specifically for this upper so I haven't shot it with any other uppers. The hammer does look smaller than some of the other milspec triggers I've put in lowers but even the "normal" one in the other lower didn't fire it.

Really appreciate all the responses/assistance

I was thinking a possible hammer spring installed backwards.  Still a possibility but since it wont work on other uppers there is an issue with the Upper.
