What is the best choice for the thread size for the best compatibility with muzzle devices:
Standard or metric and what size?

Traditionally 9mm is 1/2 x 36, however some are going with 1/2 x 28.  Colt chose 1/2 x 36 so IQ limited folks wouldn't regrettably thread a 22 caliber muzzle device on their 9mm.

seems to me that 1/2 anything wouldn't leave much meat on the barrel left. Why go 5/8 for .308 but stay with 1/2 for .357? Lower pressure I would guess but I still don't like it.
