I'm sure some of you have tried it what where your thoughts on it? I'm not talking about the Oly blow back uppers. Also interested in a 9x25 Dillon upper.

10mm = why?

Nothing I would be interested in.

I've done 9mm and it was fun and cheap to shoot.

What would your goal be with a 10mm AR?

My understanding is that the 10mm does not gain much with the 16 inch barrel velocity wise where the 9mm does.  A 9x25 might be a different story though, but I have no idea where to find one.

A 9x25 might be real cool.
I ran a standard pressure 9mm in a 16" barrel through my sierra ballistics program trying to duplicate a 30 carbine load. No dice, not even close
A .357 sig gets closer still but needed a little more still.

A 9x25 dillion out of a long tube would get it there though.

Why because its different and I have a pistol in that caliber also.

As far as speed from what I've read a 180grain 1400fps round turns into a 1800fps round

As for a 9x25 I can't find where anyone has tried it

Worst case if I build one and don't like it I can re barrel for a 6.8 spc they use the same bolt

The more I think about this project the more I like 9x25 with a hot load it should be almost semi auto 357 mag.

If you want a 10mm...why not get a TNW Aero Survival rifle. They are very AR like and are under $600...and they come in .45, 40, and 9mm. Fact is, if you get the 40 you can pick get the caliber conversion kit for like $185 and switch back and forth between 9mm and 40.  Even a .22 is in the works.......great little rifle.

Still working out the mags, and sent the upper out to have the barrel cut back, but when the mags feed it, it shoots great.

9x25 would be an awesome build. Seems like it would probably be best as DI though, given the massive pressure it makes. Ron Williams mentioned he might do it a few years ago (http://3gn.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=15&t=398726).

I would think DDLES Glock large frame lower with Williams upper in 9x25 would be tons of fun. Lay in stock of G20 mags and maybe some of the Kriss extensions (just use the G20 follower instead of G21 follower for ~30 rounders in 9x25).

I like it what are some of the particulars who's lower or mag block?

What upper? I can help with the feeding issues.
I've built more 10mms than I can count. It is a subgun round. Not a pistol round. The max pressure is set at 37.5Kpsi but I have safely pushed it to 45K without issue. My chambers are fully suported. The factory today is a little more than the 40S&W. My base load is 9.5g Hodg longshot with a 180g bullet. 10.5" brl runs 1400fps. Very solid setup & running DI/gas operated very controlable!10mm

I used the 357sig reamer & dies I had to make my own 9x25. I built a 10.5" upper. Running the 88g Rem HP for the 380 it would push them at 2200fps with power pistol. 1750fps with a 125g bullet. Great velocity with the small bullets & running DI/gas operated recoil is non existent. A 16" tube adds about 125fps over the 10.5".

That is a sweet video

So am I on track in using a 6.8spc bolt also can I order a barrel from you?

Do you make the mag block so I can use the lower I already have?

It's one of Ron's 10mm DI uppers, with a AR45 lower, SBR'ed, and using M3 Grease gun mags modified for 10mm.

The feeding issues are 100% mag related. I had modified them previously to work with an Oly upper on a Cav Arms lower, so they had to be tweaked again for this set-up. When the round presents at the right angle, it loads, fires, extracts, & ejects 100%. Two of the mags I have converted were near 100% in feeding; a third needs a little more work. Very  little recoil.

It's one of yours. The feed issue is due to the mags. They had already been modified for the Oly upper, and I found I had to file down the feed lips some to clear the underside of the DI carrier. Doing that opened up the feed lip gap a little bit, and that  had the rounds pointing up too much and hitting the top of the barrel extension. So, I had to hammer the feed lips back together some, file a little bit, hammer some more. Got two of them working almost perfectly. Had some health issues which have kept me from messing with it the last few months, but I hope to be back at it soon.

I have a bazaooka brothers AR45 receiver that takes grease gun mags. They can also be used for 10mm. But i never got around to building it.

The 6.8 bolt will work but you will need to mod the extractor for the thicker rim of the 10mm.
Yep.

Sounds like your on track. The CNC lower puts the mag up front, close to the brl extension. This will make it more important for the round to pop free of the mag a little early. Also watch out for the keep shooting mags. They can be a little more dificult to set up.

i am very interested in a 10mm ar. but for me to buy one it would have to use a normal ar lower so i can change over.

Ok so now I'm torn between 9x25 and 10mm which means I'll probably only end up with one of each. But which one should I build first?

9x25

I've never seen one so my curiosity is piqued.
