I have an SBR 10" 22LR upper that was failing to reset the hammer the other night. It is a Ceiner style conversion with black dog mags shooting Winchester bulk pack rounds. I noticed when I deliberately pulled the trigger and did a proper hold and reset, it would not work and have to be charged, then ejecting a new round; it was feeding correctly. When I pulled the trigger lightly and did not hold for reset it worked just fine to shoot doubles, triples, or as many as I could pull.

I googled it and read about notched hammers, I do have one, would that be causing it? JP light springs were also a common solution. Anyone have these issues and find solutions?

It seems weird that the way I pull the trigger has anything to do with cycling.

I think what is happening is that the recoil spring is too strong (not allowing it to go back far enough to reset the hammer) - you could either a) put in a lighter spring or b) cut a few coils off at a time until it will reset the hammer

Couple things..   How new/old is the conversion, what mfg?  Is it broken in good?    Try some CCI minimags/stingers - something "high velocity" and see if that helps.. the bulk pack stuff does not have the same 'zing' as the CCI stuff..  After some CCI's it may cycle the standard velocity stuff easier.

I know my ciener (true ciener that is about 10 yrs old) needed quite a bit of polish with Flitz to smooth everything out - even then it will have issues at times..

Here is a good link to an article about polishing the rails etc for smoother operation   link

good luck

Clean it. When that happens to mine, it's because a bunch of .22 crud has built up on the sear.
