I am having a hard time searching the site for information in regards to .22lr conversion kits… I thought this might be a fun way for my friends and kids to economically shoot my AR. What are the number one brands? Is it better to just go with the conversion bolt carrier of the entire upper? Anyone using conversions?

I got the CMMG conversion kit, ran pretty good but I found if you rest on rifle on the mag for support it will cause problems. Used the Winchester 555 value pack all day, hundreds of rounds. I like the jacketed rounds, no cleaning out lead for days afterwards.
http://www.cmmginc.com/category_s/1851.htm ETA - I found that my local gun dealer had the kit for $160, shop around even Brownells has them. |

I bought the one listed on the Stag web site. It is a high end CMMG. I have not had any problems with it in approximately ~500 shots. THe 22LRs are definitely a lot dirtier than the 223/556 but it is worth the effort cleaning if you shoot a lot.
I am pretty sure CMMG makes several versions. I assume its just like anything else, you get what you pay for. |

I find the Federal .22 runs great in the CMMG conversion. |
