Got a Spikes ST-22 M-4 upper, and had a plan for it. Now, just not sure if I should stick to my plan.

I purchased it with the intention of chopping the barrel profile to 10.5", to use as a cheap training tool for my SBR. I've been concerned with some of the reports I've seen with conversion units, and that's why I went with a dedicated upper. I've already started to amass the particular rail, sights, etc. to clone my upper.

But I keep thinking that perhaps I want to keep it full length, and build a lower for it so I'd have a full .22 rifle. I have no real reason, or need, that I can think of for not chopping it down, yet the idea keeps creeping into my brain.

So help me decide, hive. What shall I do with the upper?

Keep it full length, try it out on an existing lower, see how much you enjoy it... if you don't, or it not what you "wanted" chop it as per your plan. If you do like it build new lower for rifle. At least you get to use it full size for a bit. Isn't a spikes closer to 14.5" (due to bbl being inside the upper)... its not that far off from your 10.5 to start with. Either way ENJOY!
