I am looking at geting a CMMG conversion kit. I looked at the CMMG website and noticed there are 4 versions - Alpha, Bravo, Echo and India. Aside from some upgrades included with each kit, are there features which are considered a "must have" for performances and smooth operation? Which version do all of you prefer? Stumped at which one to get. Thanks in advance.

I bought a CMMG conversion a few years back when there were only 2 options...park and stainless.

I build a dedicated .22 IDF clone with a CMMG barrel and haven't had any issues using the black dog mags.

YMMV

It depends on how much "like for like" functionality you want with your conversion kit. If you buy the Alpha, you will not have true bolt open capability - the supplied magazine will lock the bolt open, but it will close when you remove the mag. Nor will you be able to use your forward assist. On the other hand, the India kit once installed will allow you to use your rifle just like the 5.56 version. This is important to some people who want a like for like functionality in their rifles. If you can afford it, go for the India version.

The best is the India. It actually locks the bcg to the barrel.
Live round extraction is a must in my opinion.
