Tonight I finally fixed my Spikes .22 adapter. It was not spitting the spent case out of the gun every time. It would extract it from the chamber and feed another round and two or three times per mag it would let the empty case bounce around inside the gun to be smooshed when the bolt came forward again. This is a similar problem with the Walther P22. They throw the spent cases all over. To fix the P22 you had to put a bend/hook in the end of the extractor. This makes the gun eject to the right every time if done correctly. Since this fixed my Walther I tried it on the Spikes extractor. 10 mags, 250 rounds and not one issue!!
Hopefully this is a permanent fix.

Spikes came out with a new extractor a few years back. As I recall it had a differently shaped hook that more positively grabbed the rim on the way back. I remember ordering and installing a few updated parts into my dedicated bolt, but without going through my parts bin or receipts I can't say I remember what exactly I ordered, but I know it worked. The installed parts were just a few of the spare parts I ordered for the unit so I could pack 'em away, so like I said, it's a little fuzzy right now. There were several long threads of info for tuning those lil rifles. A lot of good info if you can do a search. A few guys went the extra mile to document the info and shoot some good pix. See if you can search that deep. I played with tuning it up on my own for a little bit, nothing major, it worked well to begin with. But it hums now, and I'm still happy shooting that thing on a regular basis. |

That was my biggest issue with the Spikes BCG. If it didn't run, it rarely could be fixed.
Pages and pages of fixes. CMMG rarely has a problem and if it does, CMMG will take care of it. There is one thread on tuning. And it's mostly buzzing the chamber and a possible feed ramp polish. Dave N |
