I have searched and read until it is all just a jumbled mess up there!

Can anyone steer me to a/some thread(s) that details heads up testing of the most accurate dedicated uppers? I don't care about full auto, silencers, etc, etc.
I just want the most accurate upper recommendations.

Many thanks

Build your own with a beyer barrel or a lother walther bull barrel from Adam at ballistic advantage. These seem to be the best imo.

Ah Mark, if it were only that easy! The reason there isn't a big response to your question is because everyone has their own definition
of accuracy. Combine that with the fact that .22lr rimfire ammo is consistently inconsistent and you have a genuine paradox: how do
you get something so primitive as the .22lr cartridge to deliver consistently reliable accuracy. The answer may be as simple as the luck
of the draw, or as complicated as having Compass Lake custom build for you.

All is not lost. If you want a reliable tack driving upper you'll need to have a lower that is built for accuracy too, as the upper aint much good
if it is teamed with a marginal lower. I have built over a half dozen .22lr competition AR's from a cost is no object mentality, the Service
Rifle builds easily cost $3.5K to do right (including NM sights). They consistently deliver center to center five shot groups at 50 yards under 1/2 moa.
These are not the guns for the average guy, even though I consider myself an average guy. While I am no amature, I learn something new every day,
and a lot of that knowledge comes from people who gather here. So, as perplexing as it may be, continue to read here and learn.

Your best option, in my opinion, is to go with CMMG, asking for an 18" Beyer bull profile barrel, SS Evolution BCG, rail or forearm of your
choice, Gen II BHOA, and the new Generation II magazines. Then you need a good lower, so while you are talking to CMMG, ask if they can build you a
complete rifle, otherwise you may have to do quite a bit of tinkering to dial it all in. CMMG has done all of that heavy lifting for you, and as .22lr AR's go,
they are very good.

I've shot a handful of dedicated .22 uppers while practicing HP.  Accuracy Speaks was by far the most accurate for me.

The choice of .22 ammo is a huge factor when it comes to those uppers as well.  You have to try bunch of good stuff and test them all to see which one your gun likes best.

Our out of the box CMMG upper shoots as nice as my out of the box 10-22..An AR22 upper I guess is just like a 10-22 or any other rimfire...How accurate do you want it to be and how much are you willing to pay to get that accuracy? Our CMMG shoots plenty accurate for the plinker it is,if you are wanting to shoot some kind competition with extreme accuracy get a single shot rifle...

Shadow here has been testing the DPMS Bull barrel upper and it looks to be pretty accurate..I do not know if he thinks it is better than the CMMG but by his results it may be slightly more accurate than the CMMG,probaly not enough to notice as far as the everyday shooter who goes out killing cans and an occasional squirrel......

The stock CMMG will shoot under 1" at 50 yards with decent ammo.
The DPMS bull barrel will shoot close to 1/2" at 50 yards.
So the DPMS bull barrel has an accuracy advantage.

I appreciate the feedback. I have built a baker's dozen 10/22's and every single one of them will shoot 1/2" groups at 50 yards with their preferred loads.
I am intimately familiar with the idiosyncracies of the .22 LR and testing each gun to find it's favorites. I also know an off the shelf 10/22 holds zero interest to me
unless it is a good shooting target model so I understand the if's and buts, including the quality lower. I have several.

While a $3500 customer build is out of the question for my wants, I am looking for something that can shoot consistent 1" of less 50 yard groups off the bench with it's prefered loads and function 100% for offhand hunting & practice. I would also like to keep it less than $500. So if I am reading correctly one of the CMMG or DPMS choices in the $400 range (without the barrel upgrade) or build my own might be my best choice. And while a little out of my target price I am suprised nobody mentioned TacSol uppers???

If I were to order just a barrel, can anyone list all the other parts I would need to build my own? Not having a .22 I don't know what I would need other than a reveiver, handguard, bolt, magazine, etc???

You best bet for building is the CMMG barrel/stainless conversion/collar combo. All you need is the upper receiver, charging handle and of course whatever hand guard you want.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Using your Service Rifle lower, which means you already should like the trigger and stock, you can expect to spend about $1.1K on a dedicated SR-like upper in 22LR and you will have to wait for it.
The CMMG guts combined with a WOA sight handle, assembled by Accuracy Speaks has run beautifully with a Douglas match grade bbl.
The CMMG bolt functions well with either CMMG or BlackDog magazines. Will highly recommend the set-up with a Melonited match grade bbl. It is just shoot and forget till the residue build up bugs you, not because you have to....

PM if you need more specific details.
