so I'm researching building a dedicated 22lr upper and I'm a bit confused. i found a barrel with chamber adapter on midway for $100 22lr barrel. I have planned to put a cheaper free float on this build so that would come with a barrel nut. only thing left to do now is get an upper receiver of my choice to put the barrel into (duh).
now is where i'm confused. do I just purchase a cmmg conversion and then I'm done? what is the barrel adapter for if the conversion kit already has a chamber adapter to fit into a 223/556 chamber? If anyone could clarify I would appreciate it. |

If you bought the CMMG barrel with collar, you need to buy a conversion kit. Take the adapter off the rail and replace it with the collar.
CMMG does not sell the bolt/rail without any collar or adapter. If you buy the conversion for a 5.56, you will have the parts to use it as a dedicated bolt or a conversion by switching the adapter/collar out. Dave N |
