Please help me resolve this FTE

It's a Ceiner conversion with a CMMG adapter and CMMG barrel cut to 3.5" by ADCO.  I have a TAC 65 on the end.  I ran 10 different types of ammo through it before I settled on Federal 550 bulk Golden Bullet as the most reliable.  I'm using original BDM skinny mags.  I get this FTE about 1-2 out of every 25 rounds, down from 7-8 every 25 prior to polishing the feed ramp and swagging the chamber as described in the sticky.  The lower parts are all stock AR.

Any ideas on how to further increase my reliability?

Here's my whole setup...

I had that issue for a while.  Can't explain why exactly.

Either luck or this part addition solved it:

Just a well exposed pic w lots of lube on it.

That looks like a good solution.  Any other ideas anyone?

Picky deal, but:
Golden Bullets have a trade mark Remington. BAD reputation in .22ARs.
The Fed copper washed/plated is often (as you intended) are the go to load for many for these.
If lips act as a accessory ejector this can cause this.
A sharper hook on the  ejector can help.

OK, you did the polish job and that helped. Good start. Next, have you tried this upper on a lower with a different trigger and hammer set-up? As you know, the  hammer spring restricts the rearward movement of the bolt and can cause issues. I had a "Brand S" conversion that never would work just right due to interference with the hammer. It did the same thing yours did. If you know someone else that has a conversion from CMMG maybe you could swap some parts and see if theirs works differently. They seem to be  more problem free in a wider range or lowers.  A swap would cover the possible ejector issue and bolt against the hammer problem. The anti-jam charging handle is always a good idea.

At this point you have a couple of options. I would, if possible, start swapping parts and seeing if that could make any difference.

I ordered the charging handle today.  With luck that will resolve the issue.  I'll post my findings.

Some kits are notorius for those types of FTE's.
I've never had that issue with any of the CMMG kits I've used.

Those kits are sensitive with respect to the mags.  If using the Ciener stell ones, be sure the bolt doesnt catch on the lips.  I had to file all three of mine.  They needed to be slightly manipulated with pliers to keep pressure onthe rounds after filing.  Its a bit of a trial and error thing.

Some of the early BDM mags had high feed lips on the inside opposite the ejection port.  On some mags as the spent cartridge is pulled out of the chamber the spent cartridge hits the feed lip and has a tendency to be forced up.  Its worth checking this, try firing one round with no mag and see if round ejects cleanly.  If the rifle functions without the mag then load one round and fire with now empty mag in place.  If the rifle extracts and ejects properly then try loading the magazine till you start having malfunctions.  Some times the lips will release the top round to soon which can hit the extracting spent case causing a jam.  Inadequate bolt speed could also contribute to this type of stoppage and might be cured by a reduced weight hammer spring or cutting a few coils off the recoil spring.  Since you ordered the CMMG charging handle maybe that will solve your problem.

Well I couldn't wait for my anit-jam charging handle to arrive so I filled up regular charging handle with silicone.  A quick wipe of my finger set it at the right level so as not to interfere with the conversion.  Took it to the range this weekend and...IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!  I burned off five full mags w/o a single FTE.

My new AJCH arrived yesterday so I haven't tried it out yet, but I presume it'll work just as well.

Good to hear the AJCH worked as advertised!  Perhaps the CMMG guys should start including those in the .22lr kits..

Trim your spring a little, polish the feed ramp and chamber, and get the anti jam charge handle.  Thats what i did and it worked for me.
