Guys-

I'm going to be buiilding a DI 10mm AR soon.  I'll be getting the upper from Ron Williams, as he is the guru for that setup.  My question is, would you go with an AR45 lower with Grease Gun mags, or a regular lower with the Teppo Jutsu PPS43 mag block and mags?

I already have  a spare standard lower that was transferred as a pistol, so that would allow me to use the upper until I got the SBR paperwork done.  Or, I could get the AR45 lower and have it transferred as pistol and follow the same route.

Pros, cons?

Thanks!

PPS mags bind with the realitively strait case of the 10mm. I can only get 12-15 rnds before binding. Dont know how the rnds will run through their block. My block works but i had to mod the feed ramp for the larger rnd. GG & 10mm is 35-36 rnds. Enough said

Yes you can get a lower registered as a pistol

I recently handled an AR with a Oly Arms 10mm upper.  It had an "Olympic Arms" marked magazine designed for the 10.  I've heard some not so nice things about Oly so I'm a little hesitant about buying one of their uppers for my AR lower.  Would you buy one?
By the way, the mag was polymer or plastic and is held together(two halvers) by allen screws.  Don't know what the capacity is or if it's proprietary or double stack

I have both a 9mm and .45acp Olympic uppers.  I'm a Colt snob when it comes to my 5.56 AR's, but being a former Colt 9mm AR owner, it's nothing but Olympic for pistol calibers for me now.

I own an Olympic Arms 10mm Upper and love it.

I also recently received my 19 round polymer magazine.  I haven't had the time to run it yet, but will this weekend...holds 19 rounds without any problem and the gun dry cycled all 19 without issue.  We'll see how it does and report back...

Can you post some pics of the mag?  Thanks!

I'm also a Oly Arms pistol cal fan with a:

10mm rifle
9mm rifle
45 acp AR pistol

And a 40SW AR pistol coming soon

The Oly polymer mags are well designed with the sturdiest polymer I've even seen anyone in the industry use.  They are working with some version control issues as some of their upper designs have changed over 20 years.  But they are apparently receiving and modifying their older pistol cal conversions to work with these new mags free of charge.

10mm blowback is a really thumper rifle so a heavy buffer and a Wolff extra power spring to tame the recoil.

But it's a nice deer or hog rifle in addition to a nice SD or range rifle.

I'm wondering if these can be made to work with a Ron Williams DI 10mm upper?

Does the mag have a built-in feedramp?

Just ordered a CNC-Guns AR 45 lower for this exact purpose.

I'd ask Ron on his opinion.

Would seem easier to follow his mag recommendations.

If you have any Oly setup, run the Oly mags.

From my conversations with Ron he recommends the Grease Gun mags.

Just ordered a 10mm barrel and bolt from Ron.  Also have the AR45 lower on the way from CNC and some GG mags.

I've got an Oly upper/CNC AR45 lower in 10mm and it runs great!  The greasegun mags need a bit of tweaking so that they drop free from the CNC lower, but it takes less than a minute per mag and is easy to do.  I'm also running one of Slash's heavy 45 buffers and a Wolff extra power buffer spring.  Gets dirty real quick, but I can't get it to jam on me, no matter what I feed it.

That is one beautiful looking rifle. I really need to get off my ass and get with Ron to put an upper together for me. My CavArms lower is waiting impatiently.

Was your .45 older or did you get it after Oly released their new mags.  I've got one I bought about three years ago and am wondering if I need to have the feed ramp modified or if I can run it as is with the newer mags.

He's building a .357 SIG pistol upper for me using the Lone Wolf lowers and Glock mags.

I exchanged some email recently with the dealer rep at Lone Wolf. He told me they were "days away" from releasing a new AR lower that takes the large Glock mags. So that opens up 10mm and .45 ACP from Glock mags. I'm heavily invested in the .357 SIG right now but I'll consider that one in 10mm next year.

As in, in addition to the one they list, already?  The one they list only does 9mm, .40 S&W, .357 Sig, and .45 GAP.  I've wanted to avoid having multiple lowers, but if they do one for the .45 ACP and 10mm, I think that'd be a good enough reason.

Exactly. The one I've got right now is being built to use Glock 31 mags. They will obviously keep making the current one but they will add another version that uses the Glock 20/21 mags. So you could use them for a 10mm or .45 ACP build. Or 9x25 Dillon.

Which means you could also use those extensions they make for G20/21 mags. I don't know if they are considering reliable or not but it would get you up to 30 rounds.

http://www.topglock.com/category/1676-Glock_High_Cap_Magazines.aspx

********

"Glock lovers have long enjoyed the option to add capacity to their Glock magazines. The plus one and plus two Glock magazine extensions are great and the 33 round high capacity magazine is ideal but comes at the cost of purchasing additional magazines. Magpul has now combined the two ideas for Glock fans to get the most out of their Glock 20 and Glock 21. The Magpul MagEx Glock magazine extension works with standard 13 round or 15 round magazine for the Glock 21 and Glock 20 respectively and quickly and easily boosts your magazine capacity to 30 rounds without the need for tools. This high capacity extension will give you extra range time with your 10mm or .45 ACP Glocks."

My 45 ACP Oly was probably 8 years old when I got it.

BUT I have not run one of the new mags through it as I have several modified Uzi mags.

The only way you'll know is to call Oly and ask.  Worst case, send them your upper and they'll function test and modify what is needed to runt eh new mags.  I just run Uzi mags in my 45ACP and 10mm Olys - so I already have my mags.

Yeah, I'm guessing mine is right about four or five years old.  And I've got only one ten-round uzi magazine.  Works like a charm, but it's only one and it's only ten rounds.  I've got two modified grease gun mags that have had the metal collar removed, been smashed down slightly and had blocks welded on the back.  They're damn near impossible to load, one sticks in the magwell, and functioning is iffy at best.  If I lived closer to where OR and WA meet, I'd run up to Oly's shop, but as it is going up there would take all of a day and I just don't have the time to do that right now.

For the price of shiping to me & back to you I would fix them for you. Just a thought..

I meant in general. Would one have to be bored out from a 9mm muzzle device?

Not exactly. You must first find your thread pitch.

Then, find a device in that pitch and have it opened up, if necessary, for 10mm.
