Hi,
So I spent all last night reading every post I could find on .45 and 9mm AR based rifles. I would really like a Glock mag 9mm AR but the problem is that no one has sounded happy with their lower. So the next option is to do a .45. From what I have read it seems like Ron Williams is the man for building the DI .45 upper. So my question is about the lower, I know the bazooka brothers make an AR-45 lower that looks pretty good but does it require you to cut notches in the mags? Is there a lower that does not require you to cut notches in your grease gun mags? Finally, is there a .45 lower that takes glock mags? sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help! A Cavalry Arms lower requires a Hahn mag block, and uses an AK style paddle release in the original mag slot.
Also requires a Hahn or Slash 8 oz buffer when used with a blowback upper. Cav Arms lowers are about $125 and have an integral grip, butt, and buffer tube, so you only need small parts. |

I have a Cav Arms set up for 9mm, just like the lower one in the picture above. Its a Sweet Rifle for sure. Trouble free, fun to shoot, and easy to reload. I have a lot of 9mm rifles and pistols so it just makes good sense for me.
I highly recommend the Cav Arms lower for a PCC. |

Did you read the tacked 45 Conversion Guide?
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=15&t=345390 The first post explains the lower options. The CNC Guns AR45 lower uses unmodified Grease Gun magazines. |

Trevor [email protected] I'm pretty happy with mine. Other than the fact it doesn't have a BHO, which J_barcarp is working on right now. My gun runs like a top. I've used Glock 17 and 18 mags without any issues. The last 3 gun match, I ran almost exclusively with my Glock Fed 9mm lower and it was FLAWLESS. I even got my form 1 and put a short barrel on it. |

Some choices for GG lowers, bazooka brothers- not 100% sure if their new lower requires mag catch cut for the mag? CnC Gunsmithing AR-45 lower has redesigned mag catch to use un modified GG mags, MGI has a "Mag Well" for their lower that takes un modified GG mags, they also have a Glock 20/21 mag well for their lower. I have both mag wells for my MGI lower and both work great. As with all of these lowers you may have to tweak the mags due to mfg tolerences. Which ever you choose go with a DI 45, you will love it (I also have a blow back 45 and since I got the DI 45, I have not shot it.)
Also do not forget that if you already have a 223 lower there are other mags that work with the 45 ACP, Ron Williams has mag blocks for modified GG mags (the coller removed and the top of the mag squeezed to fir the 223 mag well) and they run 100% and as for the mag block it takes 10 seconds to install with no adjustment like other types of blocks. Ron Also has the PPS 41 mag and block, these mags are curved and look cool in the AR-15 they also run 100% and for $10 per mag (un modified) they are a great deal and hold 14-15 rounds. Also if you want to use converted AR-15 mags this is also a good way to go, they hold 9-10 rounds for the 20 round and also can be setup with a bolt hold open as well. I have not as of yet used one of the 30 round mags converted, so I am not sure what the capacity is? I reload the 45ACP and accuracy out to 100yds is very good, I am able to hit 8" steel @ 100yds all day long and if I do my part I can also hit 8" steel @ 200yds. |

I have one of Justin's AR45 lowers and couldn't be happier. It uses unmodifed GG mags and the mag release remains in the same location as all my other AR's.
I have an Olympic upper, and I shoot almost nothing but cast bullet reloads. I've shot several .50 ammo cans full of cast bullet reloads out of it, and I have yet to have a malfunction. My vote goes to CNC's AR45. |

I have the Bazooka lower. You do have to cut a notch but it only takes a second and it's pretty easy even with just a hand file. The reason I went with a Bazooka over the CNC is that I wanted it to come from just one place so if there was a problem it would not be a blame game it could be fixed by the place I got it from.
Fortunately the Baz works fine. The only negative I can see is that some of my mags needed adjusting to fit the magwell. It would be nice if the magwell were a tiny bit bigger inside, a little slop is not a problem with GG mags. |

So on your MGI lower have you had to adjust the glock 21 mags to get it to fit? I'm not in love with the idea of modifying glock mags to fit if I dont have to. RJRivero what lower/upper combination do you have? To get the AR-15 bolt to clear the follower you have to grind a small angle @ the back of the follower other wise the 2 bottom lugs tear up the follower. this does not cause any problems using these mags in the Glock they are still 100% reliablie in the glock. I have had to do this to both G20 and G21 followers, just to be clear, I have not had to do any other mods to the mags to get them to fit, other then the follower. this mod is only for DI 45 that uses the standard AR-15 Bolt/Carier (opened up for the .473 ACP rim) if you are going to use a blowback system this is not needed since the carrier does not have bottom lugs on it like the AR-15 bolt does. |

Now CnC Gunsmithing is a 07 FFL so they are now completing the lowers, no need to have another 3rd party complete the lower. (unless you want to have someone else complete it for you) |

RJRivero what lower/upper combination do you have? It's a Lone Wolf Dist. Lower with a Rock River upper. The bolt was ramped and narrowed at Adco. The rifle started out as a 16" Carbine. I used a Rock River complete upper with a free float foregrip (Tube aluminum.) When the form 1 came back, I got an 8" barrel and 9mm Rock River upper from Adco and put it together with the YHM Quad Rail I had from a different project. I use the same bolt in both uppers. I need to keep a 16" upper because of my proximity to Michigan. No SBR's 3 miles north of here. |
