I lost my Cobray loader & I just
broke my Adco plastic loader.

Will the UpLula loader work for
Sten Mags?

Or I would do a Lula, but I don't
think they make those yet.

Any input will be appreciated.

My Uplula is too small to work with the sten mags. Lula only works with double feed mags. You need to locate an Austen loader if you're going to load a lot. They are the cats ass, but run $100+.

TAPCO makes one now.  Cheaper than Dirt has them for $11.97 even though TAPCO's MSRP is $9.99:

Real WW2 made Sten mag loaders are cheap to pick up over here. The ones I have used in the past were as well made as the Sten itself & no way would they break EVER

Anyone want me to go get prices & links?

Spend the money on one of these.  It will last a lifetime and makes loading mags stupid easy.

Seconded.  THE best loader for Sten mags in existence.

these are great, but I had the mag catch part break, therefore making it useless.  I picked up one of the austen mag loaders, which is basically the same, but it locks the mag 1000x better and has a push buttonmag release. pricey but worth it..

Dog,
 Thanks fior the links.

Can you explain how the box loaders work?

I saw an UpLula today in a gun shop,
and I was tempted to try it, but I didn't.

How do the spoon loaders work?

Thanks for the input!

They allow you to compress the uppermost round in the mag just enough to get a round on top of it, then push this round all the way back
Repeat this & ya end up with a full mag

Saddler,
I was hoping it had a higher
function like the UpLula.

Thanks again guys.

Another version is on the UK Ebay right now - 230490573309

Seems that there are a few of this type available at present for not a lot of $$$'s

May not be ideal compared to more modern types - but will save your thumbs and ARE quick to use once ya get used to them

Saddler,
I tried to finish loading a mag by hand
the other night after my Adco broke,
and it's pretty much impossible toi load
more than about 20 that way. I will have to
do something asap.

I think I'll try a spoon loader & the plastic
one from CTD? looks reliable & good
value. I also may take a shot a fabbing
one up, like the HKS style where you use
your thumb from the front.

Thanks again.

If you dremmel out an UpLula, it will work on Sten and Grease Gun  mags.

Bigbore,
Will it work as reliably as
advertised on a Sten mag,
once the proper material
is removed?

Will it still work on the pistol
mags, after the mod?

Thanks for posting this info.

You have to remove the spring loaded "centering" piece, so its not as "easy" as it is out of the box for say, use on a Beretta 92 mag.  So yes, it will still work on all the other mags, but I just shelled out the $24 and bought a second.  As for reliable - I'll take my modified uplula and 100rds of 9mm start loading mags, and you take any of the other above mentioned loaders and I'll be done way before you :) It still loads like an uplula once you get the swing of it.  I think I have a few mags to load, I'll go make a video.

Thanks a bunch, Steve. for the vid. It made a nice tool for passing on the info.
I ordered two of the Tapco's today, so those I will spread out in my gear. I saw
a UpLula last Saturday, so I think I'll pick that up next weekend. Thanks again!

I just rec'd 2 Tapco Sten Loaders and
they look great. They seem to be made
of glass re-inforced nylon, I would guess.

I think I will try these for a while before I
pick up the UpLula.

Thanks again, everyone.
