I've got the Army M261 .22lr conversion kit. I've got 3 mag inserts and would like more. I'm having a really hard time finding them. Does anyone know where some are?

To tell you the truth, I'll take either. I'm using them in a .22 SR upper so I don't need high caps. The inserts would be put in 20 rd magazines. If I can find BDM mags that are about the same size as the 20 rds I wouldn't have to tie up my mags with the inserts.

Marty Another option for SR purposes is the sled from compass lake http://www.compasslake.com/22uppers.htm

Marty Would the M261 mag insert and a 60's USGI 20 round aluminium "straight body" magazine work in a CMMG Stainless conversion kit equipped AR ? |

Calgunner, I don't know but I think the mags may be conversion specific. Askimball, Thanks but he contacted me and we worked out a deal. Marty The M261's magazine (any type/form of it) will NOT work with any Atchisson/Ceiner type adapter. Period. They're quite different. This is why BDM makes different full-profile magazines for Ciener-type and M261 adapters. EVERY different .22 adapter for the AR uses a different magazine. |

If you want a 20rd (.223) size mag for an Atchisson (Ciener, CMMG, Spike's Tactical, M1S, or TacSol) you need the 15rd BDM or the later generation 10rd BDM (same extrenal size but blocked for ban states). |

I like the CMMG 10 round mags a lot (Same size and look of USGI straight body 20 rounder but silver/gray plastic) but for my M16(603) AR build 20 round "straight body" USGI mags look the part and thought a M261 insert in one would be perfect .

IIRC, the CMMG conversion uses a Ceiner-compatible mag. The CMMG kit is a version of the Atchisson adapter-which Ceiner produced as well. A Ceiner type magazine should work with the CMMG kit. Neither Ceiner nor CMMG magazines will work with a 261, period. The magazine is too different. If they weren't so different, BDM wouldn't have had to work up a unique 261 magazine... |
